Many people assume that only professors from the well-known Ivy league schools get published, but that is not always the case. Saint Xavier University has its fair share of professors who have had their work published.

For the most part, students at Saint Xavier University are aware of this.

It’s an amazing opportunity for students to have professors who not only teach full time, but are also working diligently to publish their own works.

Members of the Xavierite’s editorial board indicated that they are aware of the fact that staff members have had their works published.

One board member stated that “My English professor Dr. Tegan has been published.”

One of Dr. Tegan’s publications is titled “Mocking the Mothers of the Novel: Mary Wollstonecraft, Maternal Metaphor, and the Reproduction of Sympathy”.

Dr. Tegan is one of the many professors at Saint Xavier University to have been published, including Dr. Pirlott, Dr. Costello, and Professor Thorp according to the my.sxu.edu webpage.

Dr. Pirlott’s most recent work is centered around measuring students scores for online versus in person quizzes and labs, taking into account students “controlling factors such as GPA, gender, ethnicity, and major to limit the nonrandom assignment of participants.” according to the news article published ‘SXU’s Angela Pirlott Publishes Paper on Virtual vs. Face-to-Face Learning’.

Dr. Costello, a political science professor, has contributed to works such as “Super-powered Americans and American Superpower” and has his own publications such as Secret Identity Crisis: Comic Books and the Unmasking of Cold War America.

Professor Thorp, a philosophy professor, has published works such as The Iroquis and the Athenians: A Political Ontology with Brian Seitz. He has also contributed to works such as Plato’s Animals, with a section titled “til human voices wake us: the aporia-fish in the Meno”.

Students have resources that these professors can provide at their fingertips, all they have to do is reach out.

It is increasingly important to support professors in their works, as these works benefit not only the professors themselves but also the students and the university.

While many students may easily find reasons to be unhappy with their experiences at Saint Xavier University it cannot be said that the Professors have not been or will not be excellent resources and support for the students.

Students have access to the baskets of knowledge that their professors can provide should they just ask. It is not difficult to reach out and support professors while also giving yourself a boost academically, it is a win-win situation for students and professors alike.
