Pop-star, Tate McRae, finally releases the long awaited single, “greedy,” after weeks of teasing online.
Her single, “greedy,” has been highly anticipated by fans on TikTok, after being first introduced by McRae on Aug. 4th. The song came out after roughly six weeks and was released on Friday Sept. 15.
The song “greedy” is a kick start into McRae’s pop-era. McRae is much more known for her “sad girl” songs such as, “you broke me first” and “she’s all i wanna be.”
In a recent interview with People Magazine, McRae stated that, “I’m in my pop girl era, I feel like I have this persona sometimes on the internet of being this sad girl songwriter. And I think obviously that’s one side of me that’s so sensitive and emotional and it’s my outlet, is writing.”
McRae’s new song is based on a real interaction the singer had while talking to a man. The man in question had wanted to know more about McRae because she seemed very closed off.
McRae wrote this song to be a female empowerment anthem because men should not be “greedy” thinking they get to have all of her at once, and that they’re going to have to try harder to get to know her.
Fans on TikTok have been eagerly waiting for the release of “greedy” and posting videos begging for the release since August.
The short clip of the song has been all over the app with fans having fun and jamming out. Within only 24 hours of its release, “greedy” has garnered over six million streams on Spotify.
Canadian born, Tate McRae, is a singer-songwriter well known for songs like, “that way” and “feel like sh*t.”
McRae is currently touring North America on her “Are We Flying Tour” with stops in major cities such as New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. The tour started in Chicago on Sept. 5, and is set to end in Seattle on Oct. 13.
At only 20 years old, McRae has had a very successful career so far and, by the looks of it, a future of more success to come.
At age 13, McRae got her first big break on the reality show, “So You Think You Can Dance”, as the first Canadian Finalist. Since then, McRae has been signed on by RCA Records after garnering some fame by posting videos of her singing her own songs on YouTube.
With many of McRae’s songs dominating the charts going number one and even going double platinum with her song “you broke me first,” it seems like Tate McRae’s 15 minutes of fame are not over yet.
In 2021, McRae was mentioned as a new artist to look out for by Apple Music, Pandora Music, Billboard, and even People’s Magazine.
She has garnered millions of views all over YouTube and billions of streams on streaming platforms.
