Men’s Basketball Team Has a Strong Game

Wed, Nov 16th

It was quite the game for the Men’s Basketball team as they faced up against conference rival Trinity International University. The Cougars (1-3 leading into this game) really needed a game to get themselves back into motion. Their competition would be no pushovers though asjacob they were winners of 5 out of their past 6 games. With all this considered, will the Cougars get the win they need, or will they fall victim to Trinity International?

104-78 was the final score of the game as the Cougars routed Trinity. Defense was the name of the game as SXU held Trinity to 38% shooting in the game along with 16 costly turnovers. SXU themselves were not only unstoppable on defense, but offense as well. The Cougars scored 62 points in the first half alone on 60% shooting from the floor. The Cougars also hit 13 of their 25 3-pointers (52%). Sophomore Jacob Strong had a strong game and carried the Cougars throughout the game. Strong had 24 points and even got his teammates involved with 4 assists.

This was just the game that the Cougars needed as it stopped their 3-game losing streak, and gave them some much needed momentum. Will this momentum continue? We’ll see on Saturday when the Cougars host Indiana University South Bend at the Shannon Center.
