Ayobami Arokoyo currently holds the best mark in the NAIAfor discus with a 53.05 throw. Along with the NAIA record, he made the second-best program record throw with a 55.83 meter throw at Olivet Nazarene’s annual ONU Tiger Meet this past Saturday, April 13th, 2024.

Arokoyo also earned back-to-back CCAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week awards; his third honor in four weeks.

At that same meet, Arokoyo also placed first for shot put. Arokoyo had a mark of 15.76 meters, which is a personal best for him.

The 55.83 meter mark was 2.5 meters further than the last meet where Arokoyo threw a 53.05 which was a NAIA ‘A’ Standard.

That throw made Arokoyo qualify for the NAIA Men’s Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. This is the third season in a row that Arokoyo has qualified for nationals in his career.

Arokoyo is very grateful for what he’s seen in his career, saying “It’s a blessing honestly. I am just happy to see my hard work coming through.”

There is more to come for Arokoyo as the outdoor season rapidly comes to an end and nationals roll around the corner.
