Many great things happened for the Saint Xavier University Women’s Track & Field recently.
The Lady Cougars took to Benedictine University for the Twilight Invitational. in Lisle, IL.
Senior Jordan Wallace (Frankfort, IL./Lincoln-Way North) qualified for the 2014 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Wallace finished second overall in the event with a time of 11:31.55.
This marked the third time in Wallace’s career that she qualified nationally in the steeplechase.
The 2014 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship will be held from May 22-24 at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, AL.
Other Lady Cougars also performed well at the Twilight Invitational.
Junior Leslie Rosario (Fort Myers, FL./Neosho County CC/North Fort Myers) and freshman Nicole Watkins (Bartlett, IL./Bartlett) each posted their season-best times in the 800-meter run.
Rosario took 7th place with 2:21.34 and Watkins finished in 9th with a time of 2:21.80.
Sophomore Lexi McDermid (Lockport, IL./Lockport Township) finished in 17th overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28.13.
Freshman Rachel Koronkiewicz (Evergreen Park, IL./Evergreen Park) recorded her personal-best time in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:06.34, which gave her 13th place.
Junior Amanda Magee (Frankfort, IL./Lincoln-Way North) also performed well as she earned a new season-best time.
Magee ran the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:56.64.
The SXU Women’s Track & Field will compete in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Championships from May2nd-3rd. It will be hosted by Olivet Nazerene University, IL.
