On Monday, March 4, and Tuesday, March 5, the Saint Xavier men and women’s golf teams competed in the Broadmoor Spring Invite in Indianapolis. The women would do very well despite only playing one day, while the men would also find success.
The women would finish the first day in third place out of ten teams. Saint Xavier’s Taylor Thompson would finish in first place individually after the first day with a score of 77. The Cougars would also get great efforts from Hannah Cruz and Katie Reno with scores of 85 and 89 respectively.
The Cougars’ team would round out with Andrea Strohmaier finishing the day with a respectable score of 96. On the men’s side, the Cougars would finish in sixth with a team score of 641. Individually, the Cougars were led by Mickey Brick, as he finished with a total score of 156, good enough to place him in a tie for 17th place.
The Cougars would also get solid performances from Mike Perez, Kyle Yaeger, and Bobby Lively. Perez would lead this bunch with a score of 162, putting him in 31st place while Yaeger and Lively would both tie for 32nd place with scores of 163.
The men’s performance would round out with Zack Trent finishing in 45th place with a score of 171. The women will look to build on their success when they take part in the Pilot Spring Invitational on Friday, April 15 in South Bend while the men will look to build on their success when they partake in Indian Wesleyan University Wildcat Cup in Indianapolis on Monday, April 11.
