The Student Organization Center(SOC), is currently being remodeled.
Located in the first floor of the L-Wing in the Warde Academic Center, the SOC serves to be “a space for Registered Student Organizations and it is also a place where students can hang out in between classes to have a place to relax and get work done”, according to Julian Juarez-Butler, who works as an Orientation Leader and as a clerical worker in the Office of Student Life.
He continued, stating that the SOC “will be given a fresh coat of paint and will have new furniture, book shelves, and much more”.
Giuliana Islas, the Vice President of RSO Affairs in the Student Government Association(SGA), added that “the SOC is getting a fresh coat of red paint, it will have a new TV displaying upcoming student events as well as photos showing student life. There is going to be upgraded and more organized storage, as well as a sound bar to play music. We will be keeping the big tables for student meeting spaces”.
Islas emphasized that the SOC is a space where all students are welcome to hang out, regardless of their involvement in SGA, “The SOC is being renovated to make it a more welcoming space for students. We really want to encourage all students to use this space, because it is not just for SGA and SAB members. We hope the new look will catch the eye of more students”.
The renovations in the SOC are already underway, and it is hoped to be done within the next week. Until then, office hours will be taking place in Wiseman.
