What To Expect From WWE’s Fastlane Pay-Per-View

With the World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) “Fastlane” pay-per-view being this Saturday, there is a lot to be excited about. Let’s take a moment to look at some of the matches to look forward to.

The show will take place this Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

As of this writing, only three matches have been announced for the show, with more still to come. However, with many of the storylines and rivalries developing on both WWE “Monday Night RAW” and “Friday Night SmackDown,” it is safe to predict the direction in which the match card is headed.

Here are some of the things we can expect:

Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Iyo Sky (c) – WWE Women’s Championship match

Iyo Sky will defend her women’s championship in a triple-threat match against Charlotte Flair and Asuka.

The match was made this past Friday, when Asuka came out to save Flair from an outnumbered attack from Damage CTRL. Asuka shared a few words in Japanese for the champion, Sky, which were misinterpreted by Sky’s teammate Bayley, who assumed it was a challenge and thereby accepted it for her.

Though Sky did not seem too thrilled about her friend accepting a match where the odds are stacked against her, the match is now set. With these being arguably three of the best women’s wrestlers in the world, this is set to be a highly competitive clash.

Santos Escobar & Rey Mysterio vs. The Street Profits

After the attack Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar received from Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford of “the Street Profits” this past Friday, it seems that tensions between the Latino World Order (LWO) and Bobby Lashley & the Profits have reached a high point.

Mysterio and Escobar competed in a friendly competition for the United States championship title on the Sept. 29. episode of WWE’s “SmackDown.” The match was action-packed as both wrestlers had no desire to leave without the championship around their waist.

Mysterio ended up taking the victory, resulting in an upsetting loss for Escobar to his mentor.

Before both LWO group members could get a chance to pay their respects to each other, they were attacked from behind by the Profits. The attack came after Lashley gave them one last chance to prove their worth, saying, “I don’t wanna hear excuses. I don’t wanna hear reasons. You want something out of me? Prove it.”

The Profits have made it clear they are no longer the fun and energetic team the fans know and love. Their partnership with Lashley has exposed us to a new side of the team we’ve never seen before.

Though the match has not been added as of yet, one can predict that both teams will get a chance to settle their differences at Fastlane.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Seth “Freakin” Rollins (c) – World Heavyweight Championship match

A match that has potential to steal the show is the clash between Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura.

This will be a rematch from the bout the two had at the Sept. 2 Payback pay-per-view, where Rollins retained his world championship title. Nakamura did not take the loss well and attacked Rollins after the show went off the air.

Since then, Nakamura has provoked Rollins into granting him a rematch. This time around, a stipulation has been added, and it will be a “Last Man Standing” match. This means that there will be no rules and the winner will be whoever is left standing by the referee’s count of ten.

With as heated as this rivalry has gotten, this is sure to be an intense match up.

Nakamura has become known as “The King of Strong Style” due to his use of martial arts tactics in the ring. The question is, will this be enough to keep Rollins down for the count and claim the championship title? Or will we see the same outcome with Rollins finding a way to retain?

LA Knight & John Cena vs. The Bloodline

In what looks to be the main event of the show, John Cena will team up with LA Knight against Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa of “The Bloodline.” Cena was previously set to team with his former rival AJ Styles. However, with Styles being taken out of action due to an attack from The Bloodline, LA Knight has stepped up to the plate.

This rivalry started when Uso interrupted Cena’s return to “SmackDown” on Sept. 1, 2023. Cena responded to this sign of disrespect by hitting Uso with his Attitude Adjustment finishing move. Since then, The Bloodline has frequently targeted Cena by orders of the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. Luckily, Cena will finally have backup, as Knight came out to make the save as The Bloodline tried to outnumber Cena once again this past Friday.

Not only will Cena have a fair chance to take out the Bloodline, who has been a thorn in his side for the past month, but this will be a star-making performance for LA Knight, who has become a fan favorite in the past few months. Teaming with Cena will certainly help raise his stock as a main eventer.

Whether Knight will be enough to help Cena get The Bloodline off his back, or if they once again find a way to reign supreme remains to be seen.

With these matches in mind, Fastlane is shaping up to be action packed.
