What to Binge until the SAG-AFTRA Strike Ends

Currently, the Screen Actors Guild is striking. Due to this, many television series and films that were in production, or were filming prior to the strike, are now delayed.

Some projects that were delayed included sequels, prequels, and even continuations of films and shows.

Let’s go over some of the things you can watch, and where you can watch them until new shows and movies come out.

First off, there is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This includes a whopping thirty-two films, and nine series, on Disney+ (twenty-one if you count Netflix, Hulu, and Freeform’s series’ as well).

Currently all films except for “Spider-Man: Far From Home” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” are able to be streamed on Disney+.

Some of my personal favorite films are “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” and “Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3.”

Sticking with Disney+, another hot topic in media is Star Wars. The canon timeline may be somewhat confusing, but there are many series and films that further explain events which I believe are all fun to watch.

Currently, there are eleven films, and ten shows, all streaming on Disney+.

Amongst my favorite series are “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars: Rebels,” and “Obi Wan Kenobi.”

Some people complain that Disney is ruining Star Wars, mainly from a perspective of the sequel trilogy as a whole. However, some of the greatest Star Wars content has come from this time period.

Critics are also loving this new era of Star Wars. “Star Wars: Rebels” currently has a 98% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and “Andor”is rated at a 96%.

Moving away from Disney+, there are many notable films and series on Max, formerly HBO Max.

First there is “The Sopranos.” Personally, I have not watched it, but I have heard incredible reviews.

There is also the entire Harry Potter franchise. Every single movie is currently on the platform, and I personally have rewatched them all.

Max also is home to “Return to Hogwarts,” the documentary celebrating the twentieth anniversary of Harry Potter.

Max is also home to many DC movies. Others are scattered on various platforms, but if you are a movie geek like me, then you’d enjoy watching these. Even though some are low-rated, they are still enjoyable.

DC also has many series, but not all of them are canon. Among my favorites are “Peacemaker” and “Batman: The Animated Series.”

Perhaps, if you enjoy classic television shows, “Friends” is on Max. In addition, “The Big Bang Theory” and “Impractical Jokers” are featured on the platform.

However, if you enjoy satirical animated shows, “South Park” and “Rick and Morty” may be for you.

When it comes to Prime Video, I don’t necessarily think it has much to offer. However, it has two series which I believe are incredible. These are “The Boys” and “Invincible.”

However, these shows are extremely violent and graphic. I do not recommend watching either if you are prone to getting sick from seeing gore.

Moving away from gore, Hulu, which is said to be merging with Disney+ and ESPN+ before this Christmas, has much more to offer television-wise.

Many food related shows are on the platform, one notable one being “Hell’s Kitchen.” Gordon Ramsay is always a fun person to watch!

The platform has many animated shows from Adult Swim. My favorites being “Family Guy” and “Futurama.” Both of these series have a multitude of seasons, and I find them easy to binge.

Overall, the strike impacts the excitement that studios have built up towards fans. I know that people were super excited for some new films and series productions to begin. Unfortunately, some have been shelved by studios or completely canceled.

However, clips from shows and movies spread far and wide. If you don’t know what to watch, something will find your interest!
