What Drinks You Need To Try This October

The leaves are finally changing colors and houses are decorated in preparation for the end of October. There are a lot of festive activities taking place around the Chicago area, but a lot prove to be rather expensive. An easy way to still be festive for the spooky season would be to check out some fall drinks near campus! Finding your new favorite fall drink is a cheaper way to celebrate fall, and still get out of the house. Here is a list of places you should make your way to!

To begin, let’s start with Starbucks. Since there is one right on campus next to Morris Hall, this is easily accessible by foot.

Starbucks

Since there is a location here on campus, we asked some students to share their favorite fall drinks.

Hannah Bond, a senior at Saint Xavier, shared that her fall go-to would be an, “Iced Chai Tea Latte, with Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam.” This is a well received drink that has gained popularity as people experiment with the cold foam.

William Sulima, also a senior at Saint Xavier, says he enjoys the, “Apple Crisp Oat Milk Macchiato better hot than cold.” While this is an enjoyable option, there have been a lot of people who have said the apple taste is not as strong as they would like it to be.

If you would like to visit a location off campus, be sure to check out the Starbucks at 10301 S. Cicero in Oak Lawn. It is about a six minute drive from school.

Up next, let’s cover Dunkin, since there are multiple locations around here.

Dunkin’

This year, Dunkin’ offers the usual Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Pumpkin Spice Latte, and Chai with Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam that can be found at a lot of places. Here are the drinks that are more unique.

Nutty Pumpkin Coffee: This drink combines pumpkin and hazelnut flavors for a wonderful fall coffee that can be enjoyed iced or hot. This is a new addition to the Dunkin fall menu for 2022.

Blood Orange Refresher: This cooled refresher combines blood orange and cranberry, along with green tea for its flavor. This is another new 2022 menu item for fall.

You can visit Dunkin’ at 9601 S. Pulaski Road in Evergreen Park. Or, another location close to Saint Xavier, would be at 3977 W. Columbus Avenue in Chicago. Both are within ten minutes of campus by car.

Up next, we had the opportunity to visit some coffee shops that are close to campus as well. We will now explore these options that provide not only a more unique coffee experience, but a place for visitors to get work done and hang out.

Cork & Bean

This is a local coffee shop that offers dine-in, curbside, and delivery services. They are open from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. every day but Friday and Saturday, where they stay open until 12 a.m. They have a promising fall menu online and going in person did not disappoint.

White Chocolate Pumpkin Latte: For anyone looking for a fall drink other than pumpkin spice that still incorporates pumpkin, this is a sweet latte that does the job well. The spice part is not present or overpowering, making for a sweet drink. Even the coffee taste does not outshine the fall flavoring.

Pistachio Latte: This drink is made with pistachio syrup and your choice of milk.

Toffee Nut Latte: This drink is made with toffee nut syrup along with macadamia milk.

These are only some of the many unique flavors Cork & Bean has to offer. You can visit them at 4931 W. 95th Street in Oak Lawn. It is just under ten minutes away from campus and offers parking on the street. We promise you won’t be disappointed!

Two Mile Coffee Bar

The next coffee shop offers dine-in and curbside. It is open from 6 a.m.-4 p.m. every day but Saturday. On Saturdays, they open at 7 a.m. and maintain the same closing time. They offer a specialty collection of drinks perfect for your next study session.

Team Pumpkin: This drink is made with pumpkin, maple syrup, and coconut. This is their version of a pumpkin spice latte.

The South Cider: This tea is made with apple cider, masala chai, and caramel. There is also orange and cinnamon garnish. Anyone looking for their new favorite, hot, fall drink should give this a go, especially those who are not big on caffeine. This blend is life changing. Plus, with a name as an ode to Chicago’s south side, what is not to like?

Bonfire Latte: This coffee is inspired by a s’more, with caramel and marshmallow. This adds a new twist to fall drinks, however, is less sweet than some of the earlier ones listed. Coffee lovers will enjoy this one immensely.

If any of the flavors above catch your interest, you can visit this coffee shop at 9907 S. Walden Parkway in Chicago. This is also a drive that can be done in just under ten minutes.

Well, Cougars, there you have it! We hope you find a new drink that brightens your day and your fall season. Be sure to check them out for the limited time they are here!
