A wasp nest located in the fifth floor laundry room of O’Brien Hall was reported during the weekend of Sept. 27.
Resident Assistant Taylor McDonald sent a message to residents stating: “Hi everybody, just letting y’all know that there is a wasp nest inside the light in the laundry room. There have been a few (wasps) flying in and out of there and they’re attacking (residents) so just be careful please if you go in there; or just use one of the other laundry rooms.”
McDonald informed residents that SXU housekeeping will be taking care of the issue.
“Hopefully the wasp situation gets taken care of soon, for the safety of everyone,” fifth year student Lexi Clakre stated.
Residents have been encouraged to do their laundry on another floor. “While doing laundry on other floors is a bit of an inconvenience,” Clarke stated, “at least we can still do laundry.”
As of Oct. 8, the wasp situation is still being addressed.
