Let’s face it, people always want to hear juicy gossip and know personal details about their favorite celebrity. Although you may think that interviewers will always get the response you want to hear from the celebrity, that is not always the case.

Recently Robert Downey Jr. fell victim to this circumstance and exited his interview. Do you think that interviewers take it too far sometimes?

Here are some other famous walk-offs that have occurred throughout the years.

Robert Downey Jr. Exits Interview When Asked About His Past

Last week Krishnan Guru-Murthy from Channel 4 News interviewed Robert Downey Jr. about the upcoming superhero film Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Things seemed to be going okay but then suddenly took an awkward turn. Guru-Murthy started to bring up Downey Jr.’s past and you could see how uncomfortable he was becoming.

He repeatedly kept glancing over at his publicist wondering what he should do and eventually asked the question “Are we promoting a movie?”. Then the subject of his father came up along with his dark past and that was it for him. Downey Jr. got up from the interview and said it was “getting a little Diane Sawyer-ey”.

Joan Rivers Storms Out of Negative Interview

Back in 2014, Joan Rivers had an interview with CNN and boy was it a sight to see. CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield mainly talked about how Rivers can be controversial with things that she says and does but this did not sit well with the comedienne.

Rivers said that the interview was negative and she called her out about it. When Whitfield talked about Rivers wearing a fur coat on her book cover and saying that would be controversial with animal rights, Rivers retorted “Are you wearing leather shoes?” and Whitfield responded yes.

Rivers quickly shot back by saying “Then shut up”. She ended by saying that Whitfield was not meant to interview someone who does humor and walked off. CNN thought it was all a joke but in the end, it was not.

Robert Pattinson’s Publicist Makes Him Leave the Interview When Asked about Kristin Stewart

It was the premiere of the second Twilight film New Moon and Ryan Seacrest was awaiting for Robert Pattinson’s arrival. When he finally arrived, Seacrest asked typical questions about the movie, career, and fame.

The interview was very brief to begin with because you could see in the beginning when his publicist walked in that she held up two fingers indicating that he only gets two minutes to speak with Pattinson.

Seacrest then brought up Kristin Stewart and immediately Pattinson’s publicist tells him it is time to go. Seacrest was stunned and said that this was the first time that he had ever been cut-off. Pattinson had a funny reply to the question by simply stating “Watch New Moon it’s amazing”.

Gary Coleman Explodes In On-Set Interview

Gary Coleman was being interviewed back in 2010 by The Insider and this interview was insane. Coleman was asked if he had a volatile relationship with his wife and his reaction was jaw-dropping.

He got very defensive and denied it repeatedly. Attorney Lisa Bloom was on the guest panel that day and she did not hold back. She repeatedly asked Coleman questions regarding his wife and he made very bold statements.

He went on to say that he did not care or like Bloom and even made a statement saying that he did not care if she got hit by a bus that night. Coleman stormed off stage but not before having a few choice words for the entire panel.

Selena Gomez Cuts Off Interview With Dean Richards

Selena Gomez was being interviewed via satellite by Chicago’s own WGN News entertainment reporter Dean Richards to discuss her new music. Instead, the interview took a different route.

When Richards asked Gomez about Justin Bieber’s recent bad behavior, Gomez was shocked. She was seen shaking her head as Richards pressed on with the questions. Suddenly, the interview was abruptly cut off. All Richards could do was chuckle.

With situations like these, one big question arises: Do the interviewers go too far? It is true that people want to ask certain questions but there is a right time and place for them.

For press junkets, only the actor’s films should be discussed. Their personal lives should be left out because it pertains to nothing that they are promoting. If it was a Diane Sawyer interview for example, then that would be the time to ask some deep questions.

It is understandable that interviewers have a job to fulfill by asking questions but only when the timing is right. Overall, celebrities should expect that certain questions will be brought up but interviewers should wisely choose when it is appropriate to ask them.
