It was a road game for the Cougars, as they faced off against a conference rival in Roosevelt University. Fortunately, Roosevelt being at home proved to be no advantage for them as SXU was able to walk out with a win, taking 3 sets to Roosevelt’s 1. The Cougars garnered a ton of momentum after a 7-point set 1 victory, momentum that propelled them to take the next set at 26-24. Feeling the pressure of being down 2 sets, Roosevelt knew they had to play to stay alive in this one and they did just that taking set 3 25-21. Down but certainly not out, SXU looked to close out in set 4 and thankfully they did just that winning set 4 25-20. Sophomore Rory Manion had a huge game for the Cougars as she had 14 kills and a season best 5 block assists.
Thurs, October 19th
Another road game for the Cougars here as they faced off against Judson University. Despite being away from home for the 2nd straight time, SXU was still able to overcome the odds and take the win with a victory of 3 sets to Judson’s 0. SXU seemingly dominated the whole matchup winning the first 2 sets with a margin of 6 or more. Sophomore Courtney Joyce played a good game (which is becoming the usual for her) with a stat line of 23 assists and 14 digs.
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday, October 25th. For a recap of that game and many others, keep it locked here at the Xavierite.
