Fall is almost here. And another season means a whole bunch of new movies. Here are the upcoming Fall flicks!
September 16 – Snowden
Snowden, which is out right now, is based on the true story of Edward Snowden, a NSA employee who quits his job and leaks classified information of the government’s mass surveillance program. Now a fugitive, he must flee his own country in order to remain safe.
This biopic is directed by award-winning director Oliver Stone. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays the famous whistleblower, Edward Snowden.
September 23 – The Magnificent Seven
The Magnificent Seven is a remake of a 1960 movie of the same name, which is also a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai (1954). Confusing right? Director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) once again teams up with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke to bring his vision of a classic film to the big screen. A group of seven gunmen are hired to protect a town from violent thieves in the old west.
September 30 – Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
Director Tim Burton brings to life a young adult novel with Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
Jacob (Asa Butterfield) discovers a magical place known as Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, where the residents have special powers. However, he soon learns of the evil forces that threaten the residents and must save them on his own with his own special “peculiarity.”
From the trailer, you can spot all the similarities the movie has with Alice in Wonderland (2010) and X-Men (2000). I am a huge Tim Burton fan, so I am definitely seeing this one!
September 30 – Deepwater Horizon
Deepwater Horizon also releases on September 30. Based on true events that occurred on April 2010, Mark Wahlberg stars in the story of the oil rig explosion set in the Gulf of Mexico. This event created the worst oil spill in U.S. history.
October 14 – The Accountant
Ben Affleck, who is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors, is Christian Wolff, an accountant (duh) who works for dangerous criminal organizations. When the feds start investigating, and as Wolff starts to realize the truth, things start to get interesting.
From Gone Girl to Batman v. Superman, Ben Affleck has proven that he is a tremendous actor. We all need to forget about the stains on his career that were Daredevil and Gigli. Never again.
Alongside Affleck are Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect), J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), Jeffery Tambor (Transparent), and Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead).
October 21 – Jack Reacher: Never Go Back
Jack Reacher is back, and he needs to uncover the truth behind a major conspiracy in order to clear his name. While on the run, he uncovers a secret that could change his life forever.
Tom Cruise returns as Jack Reacher in this sequel of the 2012 movie.
October 28 – Inferno
Speaking of sequels and reprising roles, Tom Hanks returns to the Da Vinci Code series in Inferno. Hanks once again plays Robert Langdon, as he races to stop a deadly plot that could affect the whole Earth.
November 4 – Doctor Strange
Marvel introduces yet another hero to the big screen and his name is Doctor Strange. Benedict Cumberbatch plays the aforementioned doctor in the second movie of Marvel’s third phase.
After Dr. Stephen Strange is in a tragic accident that ruins his career, he travels the world in search of healing, only to the find Ancient One, who becomes Strange’s mentor in the mystic arts.Cumberbatch is a phenomenal actor, and I can’t wait to see him be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. November 23 – Moana
And finally, Disney’s last movie of the year, Moana. The story of a young woman named Moana (Auli’l Cravalho) who sets sail to an island with a demi-god named Maui (Dwayne Johnson).
