Unstoppable Medical Drama, Grey’s Anatomy

Captivating Medical Drama, Grey’s Anatomy has surfaced onto almost every American’s television screen for the past 17 years. It focuses on the lives of surgeons navigating their way through life and love. It has had a very successful run for the amount of years it has been airing. Fans keep wanting more and more. No one can really predict when the show will end, but for the time being, fans cannot get enough of this steamy, indulging and interesting medical drama. Fans have been able to witness the evolution of the cast members, issues presented, and the overall vibe of the show. 

Grey’s Anatomy first aired in 2005 on ABC network, it immediately caught the public’s attention. It centers around the life of Dr. Meredith Grey who started out her surgical residency at Seattle Grace Hospital. She shares her experiences with her fellow interns who then become lifelong friends. No one can seem to get enough of this medical drama due to the real life issues presented throughout the episodes. Such as heartbreak, life or death scenarios, and much more. Fans seem to identify themselves with characters, quotes and the overall aesthetic. It is educational, yet dramatic at the same time. The heavy amount of medical issues presented, balances itself out with the focus of the character’s lives. For example, the infamous relationship between Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd is a love almost every Grey’s Anatomy fan has hoped for in their lives. 

Grey’s Anatomy has even inspired some to pursue a career in the medical field and has helped some through tough times with its beautiful way of words. For instance relationship advice, important life lessons, and personal growth. It has surfaced its way onto social media outlets and has become a huge part of people’s lives. If any of you are familiar with the songs “Chasing Cars” and “How to Save a Life.” Then you most likely are aware that these two songs have established a platform for Grey’s Anatomy.  

Not to mention, Grey’s Anatomy is not afraid to shed light on serious issues, regardless of receiving backlash from it. Such as casting its first transgender surgical intern in season 14. As well as creating stories to defend and display domestic violence. These changes have been made as the show has progressed. They were not very vocal in expressing these issues in the earlier seasons. Which is why Grey’s Anatomy is so special, it has grown with the world, its audience, and considers them deeply. They maintain a diverse cast and are unafraid to take these risks that may or may not result in loss of viewers. 

Season 17 will be premiering November 12, 2020. Based off of the trailers and Instagram photos that have been released, it seems like producers are going to shed light on COVID-19 throughout the duration of the season.
