Track & Field Compete: NAIA vs. NCAA Challenge

Saint Xavier University’s Men and Women’s Track & Field teams have completed another week in their season. Recently, the Cougars participated in a meet held at Olivet Nazarene University. This particular meet is tailored to challenge the two collegiate divisions of sports, the NCAA and the NAIA.

 

Men’s Track & Field

The Men’s team competed well in the competition at Olivet. In the Men’s 60 Meter Dash, John Stancato placed 7th while Nick Peseck placed 19th of 45. John’s time was 7.24 and Nick’s was 7.39.

In the Men’s 200 Meter Dash, Matt Krakowski placed 28th while Al Bernal took 34th and Nick Peseck took 36th of 68. Krakowski had a time of 24.11, Bernal had 24.25 and Peseck timed out at 24.34.

For the Men’s 400 Meter Dash, Matt Krakowski placed 3rd and Rex Wiafe placed 11th. Krakowski’s time was 51.35 and Wiafe’s was 52.87.

In the Men’s 1 Mile Run, several of our Cougars placed high. Brian Corcoran placed 5th, Shane Kenney placed 12th, Janis Pastars placed 15th and Abel Hernandez placed 17th. Their times were as follows: 4:28.74, 4:34.27, 4:37.57, and 4:39.12.

 

Women’s Track & Field

Women’s Track & Field also competed well in the competition. Runner Nicole Watkins placed 4th in the Women’s 800 Meter Run. Nicole’s time in the 800 meter run was 2:32.12.

In the Women’s 3000 Meter Run, Ashley Shares took 3rd while Jordan Wallace took 6th. Ashley’s time was 10:37.54 and Jordan’s was 10:47.27.

Ashley Shares also went on to take 2nd in the Women’s 5000 Meter Run with a time of 18:19.44.
