Walt Disney is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2023. Yes, its 100th anniversary.
Disney’s 100 Years Of Wonder means that there have been 100 years of guests that have loved the Walt Disney Company’s projects.
The celebration is coming to Disneyland this year with new shows, merch, collectibles, food and much more.
Starting off the 100th anniversary in January of 2023, Disneyland opened with an updated show to The World Of Color. The World Of Color has seen many updates throughout the years but has never gotten a crowd like the newest update.
This special event that is only showcased at Disney California Adventure, uses water and colors to bring their creations to life of The Walt Disney Company and show guests their favorite characters.
On March 11, Professor Allen Babiarz-Lira, of the Communication Department said via email, “I am excited to see the new additions to the show! The new additions are going to be spectacular!”
The updated World Of Color now involves some of Disney’s newest series and movies, Mirabel from “Encanto” along with new upcoming Marvel characters will be featured as well as tons of more Disney characters that we all know, such as Grogu from “The Mandalorian” and Boba Fett.
Another new addition to Disneyland in the upcoming year is the new merchandise. For example, loungewear. Loungeflys and shoes including accessories for the parks such as Magicbands and ears.
As the new merchandise and accessories come out for Disney guests to buy, collectibles are also being released in stores such as Target, Walmart, Hot Topic and Boxlunch. These collectibles are known as Funko pops where you can get a bobblehead of a character that was made in The Walt Disney Company for the past 100 years.
Babiarz-Lira stated, “I already bought the 100 year spirit jersey and have been rocking it around campus! I cannot wait to get all of the 100 year Funko Pops.”
The new merchandise, accessories, and collectibles, are one way where Disney guests still get to experience the wonder of the celebration while not being at Disney. However, if a guest is at Disney during the time of the celebration, they get to experience the fun while wearing and collecting their favorite characters.
Throughout the past 100 years, there have been many events that Walt Disney has held to honor and celebrate special events in the company. While there have been a lot of celebrations, this celebration is one unlike any other.
Babiarz-Lira explained that, “Disney gives their guests a feel of magic and wonder every time they enter the parks. Guests are transformed out of their everyday lives and into a world of immersion and imagination. Disney Parks let us leave our crazy lives for a few minutes and be in a world of wonder.”
Disney has been one of several ways that guests get to escape back to their childhood imagination so that they can experience the fun of being a child again.
The last 100 years have given millions of guests the wonder that is Disney. Although the next century will bring even more.
