On November 21, The Green Movement, alongside The Political Science Forum and Alumni Relations, will host a pop-up thrift shop.
Donation collection for the event started on October 10, and donation boxes can be found around the Warde Academic Center for any clothing items or other possessions according to TheDen.
Emily Saldana, The Green Movement’s public relation’s officer, stated that, “We will be accepting mainly clothes for younger adults since this is an event mainly targeted toward students; however, as we are an open campus, we are looking forward to seeing some new faces from around the community. Donations may include shoes, shirts, dresses, jumpers, leggings, jeans, jewelry, (such as bracelets, earrings, and necklaces) and winter and fall gear, (such as coats, hoodies, purses, shorts, boots, and books)”
Saldana continued, “The proceeds will be going to both The Green Movement and The Political Science Forum. We don’t get a lot of funding for our RSO’s, so it would especially help us be able to host more events as well as programs in order to help SXU become a more eco-friendly place.”
The organizations involved with the event have put a considerable amount of effort into preparing for the pop-up thrift shop.
In regards to the effort put in, Saldana stated that, “We’ve definitely had to put in some elbow grease for getting everything organized, contacting different people, as well as making sure to market this to reach people.”
More information about the pop-up thrift shop and the donation process can be found on the organization’s pages on TheDen, their Instagram pages (@sxu_green_movement and @sxu_psf) or through email(greenmovement@sxu.edu and politicalscienceforum@sxu.edu).
