College students are always stressing out about papers, assignments, projects, work; You name it. Just thinking about all that is getting me anxious. Whether it be a friend, a good book, a video game, or a television show, we always have that one thing that helps us through those stressful times. Personally, I listen to music for relaxation. It doesn’t have to be a specific genre of music either. I listen to whatever can help calm me down.

However, it seems that science has determined which songs are the most relaxing. Researchers at Mindlab International found that a couple of songs reduced stress in listeners including Coldplay’s “Strawberry Swing,” Adele’s “Someone Like You,” and even a Mozart piece called, “Canzonetta Sull’aria.” But the most effective song is “Weightless” by an English musical trio called Marconi Union.

Researchers found “Weightless” reduces anxiety in listeners by up to 65%. Marconi Union created the song in collaboration with the British Academy of Sound Therapy and designed it to lower heart rate, blood pressure, and the body’s stress hormone. Just take listen for yourself:

I don’t know about you, but I almost fell asleep while listening to this song. I guess it does not help that it was midnight. Also, the music video is mesmerizing and it feels like it is putting you in a trance. I might be listening to this song during finals. Hopefully this song will help you chill out.
