Colombian Reggaeton artist Jose Osorio Balvin, famously known as “J Balvin” released “The J Balvin meal” at McDonald’s on October 5, 2020. Just in time for celebrating Latinx Heritage Month. The release of this meal had his fans waiting in line at their local McDonald’s to gain insight on J Balvin’s preference and taste. Considering it is just a basic Big Mac with no pickles, fries and an Oreo Mcflurry. This simple meal had the ability to drive fans crazy over the month of October. The huge question here is, is it really worth it? The items in the meal can be easily accessed with or without the “J Balvin meal” title, therefore making this meal constantly available. It built hype and intensity because it was specifically made by J Balvin for McDonald’s and his fans.
Balvin’s fans did not seem to care whether or not the meal was simple and basic, all they wanted was to give into the hype of their favorite artists’ meal at McDonald’s. By doing so, fans rolled up to their nearby drive through by simply pulling in and stating “you know what I’m here for.” Associated with pumping their radio volume up to J Balvin’s famous songs “Mi Gente” and “Agua.” Many TikTok users shed light on this meal and recorded themselves doing this. Which caused further hysteria and left people wanting to attempt this drive through tactic for themselves. Which brings in another question, did people really go because they genuinely wanted a Big Mac with no pickles?
Considering this meal can be constructed at any time of the year, what makes this meal so special from the rest? Aside from hopefully getting the Mcflurry for free if you order through the McDonald’s app. There is no special add on, nor something that makes the meal stand out from the rest. The bigger picture here is that it was constructed by J Balvin, which is what makes the meal so special to some. It is interesting to see McDonald’s advertise their meals and menu by partnering with famous artists. This trend began when The Travis Scott meal launched in September. Immediately after it was removed from the menu, The J Balvin meal surfaced. This gets fans and society wanting to dive into the hype of a new limited edition meal.
Bringing in J Balvin’s colorful and inviting essence to the table is what has had fans on their feet ever since the meal surfaced. In the commercial advertisement, Balvin maintains the essence of his hit album “Colores” throughout the duration of the video. Fans were innocently teasing Balvin on social media after the announcement was released. Such as insinuating connections with his “Colores” album to the meal. J Balvin is offering a fresh and inviting vibe to McDonald’s through this meal associated with a funky background beat that depicts what J Balvin is all about. Which succeeded in attracting his fan base and McDonald’s lovers.
The J Balvin meal is available at McDonald’s in the United States until November 1, 2020. If any of you are interested in eating a Big Mac with no pickles, and want to dive into J Balvin’s favorite McDonald’s menu items. Then go to your local McDonald’s and see what all of the hype is about for yourself.
