Since I love myself
By Daneesha Tillman
Since I love myself, I refuse to give anybody power over my emotions
Can’t let them abuse or bruise, my confidence.
I correct myself on the mistakes that tackle my heart.
Lauryn Hill once asked “how you gonna win when you ain’t right within?”
I plan on winning, so Lord forgive me from my sins.
Since I love myself, I pamper myself when needed.
I don’t always need to buy flashy things, True Religion jeans, or screw in earrings.
I know what styles work for me.
I’d even put on a t-shirt and jeans, just to show I’m worthy.
I leave room for my blessings and lessons.
I want to live in comfort, not go to sleep stressin.
Since I love myself, I respect my body.
Though one day it will decay, my soul will feel better knowing I respected myself everyday.
To supply, and not deny, myself of nutrition.
Sex is something I’m just not missin.
And excuse me sista, I hear you dissin.
Me behind my back, so won’t you sit back and listen.
To a real queen talk and alter your dimension.
Sweet Circuits
By Jorge Pliego
She’s my sweet addiction my hearts affliction
I can’t seem to leave, yes I need her.
Our song on the radio.
Now were dancing.
Our hearts meet and can’t let go.
Sweet Circuits.
She’s my sweet addiction my hearts affliction
Our love cascades, yes it cascades.
We’ve let go, but fell into pieces.
yes we fell to pieces.
Woke up next to each other in sweet circuits
round and round we go,
I still need her yes, I need her.
Time ticks and we still stay
yes, we still stay
Our hearts meet and can’t let go.
We fixed these broken pieces.
and chose to not let go.
Our love is on a circuit
yes on a circuit
Our worst mistake was us.
But we fixed these broken pieces
and chose to not let go.
