As December approaches, so does the holiday season. It is the most wonderful time of the year, but there is one more thing that makes it even better: a month full of sports! If you are an SXU, Illini, Wildcats, or Bears fan, then check out the schedules below for these teams for December. Football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball teams are the best winter sports to watch while bundled up on the couch.
Of course, we start with our mighty SXU basketball teams. The men’s team has seven scheduled games for December. They will play on December 2nd, 8th, 10th, 12th, 16th, 19th, and 31st. The women’s basketball team has four scheduled games for December, consisting of playing on December 6th, 12th, 30th, and 31st. The next sports team is one of two Big Ten schools in the state: the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The following games are fun to watch because of the higher competition of the division I level. The Illini football team plays on December 5th and 12th. They will play in-state rivalry, the Northwestern Wildcats, for the game on the 12th. The men’s basketball team plays December 2nd, 8th, 12th, 15th, 20th, 23rd, and 26th. The women’s basketball team plays on December 2nd, 6th, 10th, 19th, 22nd, and 31st.
The second Big Ten school we have in the state is the Northwestern Wildcats. Their football team plays on December 5th and 12th. As mentioned above, the game on the 12th will be a great game to watch against their rivals, the Illini. The men’s basketball team plays on December 2nd, 5th, 9th, 13th, 20th, 23rd, 26th, and 29th. The women’s basketball team takes the court on December 6th, 10th, 14th, 17th, 22nd, and 31st.
As the professional baseball, basketball, and hockey seasons wrapped up earlier this year, football remains the popular sport of the current fall and winter season. While the Chicago Bears have been on a steady decline with their past few games, there is still hope that they can come out with some wins for their future games. For December, they will play on the 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th. They are also currently ranked 3rd in the NFC North division behind the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings. All of these games are on Sundays, so mark your calendars now!
Luckily, there are more than enough sports games in December to make your days merry and bright! Nothing is better than keeping warm inside and watching some of your favorite teams take the court and field. Most of the teams will also continue to play in January. In addition to football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball, we hope to see more sports play in the upcoming months.
