Volleyball
Another weekend and another tournament for the Women’s volleyball team. This time around, they competed in the CCAC Crossover Tournament hosted by Indiana University-South Bend.
With a big win coming earlier in the week for the Cougars, they had all the momentum for this tournament but did they use it effectively?
Fri, October 28th
The Cougars started off and ended their Friday night with a win over the tournament host Indiana University-South Bend. The team lost the first set (25-20), but use this to ignite the fuel that would ignite them to win the next 3 (25-15, 25-20, 25-17 respectively). The team played dominantly totaling 57 kills and 7 blocks on the day.

With the big win coming on Friday, the Cougars had a heap of confidence leading them into their first matchup on day 2 coming against Governors State University. The team wasted no time asserting same dominance they had displayed in their last matchup as they game 3 sets to 0.
Their second matchup of the day saw the Cougars go up against Olivet Nazarene University in a losing effort. The team lost 3 sets to Olivet’s 3. Over the 2 matchups on the 2nd day, sophomore Helena Atton totaled 20 kills and 4 blocks (3 of which being solo blocks). Despite the last matchup being a loss, the team finished 2-1 in the tournament overall which is very impressive when comparing it to their past tournament performances.
The Cougars return to action this Tuesday, November 1st in what will be the Cougars final home game of the season.
