It has been nearly two months since the long-awaited opening of Biggby Coffee’s Shorewood location. The chain officially opened its doors to the city on September 13, 2022. This was big news for local coffee lovers, and continues to be a satisfying addition to the mornings of many.

The Biggby chain originated in East Lansing, Michigan, but continues to expand. There has even been talk of a location coming soon to Evergreen Park, which would be roughly 5 minutes from campus at the potential location: 3150 W. 95th St. Yet it remains unclear when this location will be opening.

However, Biggby boasts a menu filled with a wide variety of drinks and food that is worth a trip. Let’s dive in.

I recently had the opportunity to make my third trip to the Shorewood Biggby and it did not disappoint. I ordered a hot honey, cinnamon, vanilla latte, along with the turkey havarti bragel. Everything exceeded my expectations, especially considering my preference for cold drinks.

However, this was a nice drink for a cold day and the sandwich was wrapped in a way that kept it warm for a long time. The bragels are offered on plain or everything bagels, and there are breakfast and ham options as well. It was a nice change from having a bagel with cream cheese.

During another recent visit of mine, I was able to try an iced latte, as well as a non-caffeinated drink. This time around, I ordered the Black Forest Latte, which is made with chocolate, caramel, and blackberry flavoring. My friend ordered a Strawberry Punch Mocktail that was made with Red Bull.

Biggby also offers other “Blast Energy Drinks” that are comparable to a refresher, but with the added kick. Both were incredible and were drinks we would order again.

One drink I did not particularly like was a white chocolate cold brew drink that had cold foam on top. Another friend got the Pumpkin Spice Latte off the limited time fall menu, which was a lot better.

The cold brew was pretty bitter to me and the foam was not sweet enough to make a difference. However, I would try other options to see if the same is the case for all.

The fall menu for Biggby was promising, which means the holiday menu is one worth some hype. From last year, Biggby offered a lot of unique holiday drinks to satisfy every kind of mood. The major drinks included the Peppermint Stick Mocha (mocha and mint topped with peppermint candy), Winter Wonderland (white chocolate plus cinnamon), and Snow Mint Mocha (white chocolate plus mint topped with peppermint candy).

New additions to the 2021 holiday menu from last year included the Cookie Butter Latte, Snowball Latte, Sweet Foam Cookie Butter Cold Brew, and Sweet Foam Snowball Cold Brew. Worthy mentions include the Eggnog Creme Freeze, Red Velvet Latte, and Sweet Foam Red Velvet Cold Brew.

This year’s holiday menu is yet to be released. Needless to say, we are counting down the days.

Aside from coffee, Biggby also serves smoothies, tea, hot chocolate, and energy drinks. There is a kid’s menu offering additional options. For food, along with the bagels, Biggby offers muffins, donuts, apple fritters, and cookies. To see the whole menu, click here.

Now that we have you convinced, you can find the Shorewood location at 1015 Brook Forest Avenue. It is about a 50 minute drive without traffic. The drive thru line is not in the easiest spot when the line is long, so going inside could help maximize your experience.

If you are looking for a place that is sure to have a flavor or drink you have never tried before, Biggby is your place. Mark it down on your bucket list for an experience sure to please, especially with the holiday drink season’s approaching arrival.
