Taylor Swift’s New Album is Here!

After making headlines at the 2022 VMAs with her album announcement, Taylor Swift released her 10th studio album titled “Midnights” on Friday, and the track list is filled with 14 lyrically and musically satisfying songs. “Lavender Haze” – 10/10

The album’s opening track has a captivating and expensive, extremely catchy sound. The opening line “meet me at midnight” is something that this new Taylor era will be remembered by. 

“Maroon” – 9/10

With a deep atmosphere, “Maroon” is a mixture of an upbeat and a soft pop record. The mixture of the lower tones in the verses with the angelic tones in the chorus creates a truly unforgettable sound.

“Anti-Hero”- 10/10

A song that sounds like it came straight from a movie, “Anti-Hero” delivers a constant switch of tunes that leaves listeners in an emotional state. With a lyrically catchy chorus, the song gives us a look inside the mind of someone who sees themselves as not a villain, but an “Anti-Hero”.

“Snow on the Beach” – 10/10

With background vocals featuring the one and only, Lana Del Rey, “Snow on the Beach” is musically like the songs on Swift’s 2008 album “Fearless”. The instruments in the song give a nostalgic sound that is indescribable.

“You’re on your own, kid.” – 8.5/10

There is something about this track that distinguishes it from others. Taylor’s talent for taking an upbeat instrument and including deep lyrics about making it on your own is what truly makes this song a masterpiece.

“Midnight Rain” – 9/10

With its fun and unique sound, this track did not disappoint. The overall feeling of this song is extremely relaxing and eventually sends you into another dimension.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Question…”?” – 8/10

The transition from the bridge to the chorus is what makes this song truly great. The sounds of the percussion instruments combined with Swift’s vocals leave a lovely mark on the album.

“Vigilante Sh*t.” – 10/10

With flashbacks from the “Reputation” album, “Vigilante Sh*t” gives off major villainous vibes. The song also gives off melodic sounds that sound like the younger sibling of Billie Eilish’s “You Should See Me in a Crown”.  

“Bejeweled” – 10/10

Continuing with the upbeat side of the album, the “Bejeweled” track adds a magical melody mixed with Swift’s signature pop sound. The production of the song is extremely memorable.

“Labyrinth”- 8/10

For this track, the melodies are slowed down and the vocals are more present, which gives it a more relaxing feeling overall. “Labyrinth” is a true masterpiece that adds to the emotional side of the album.

“Karma” – 9/10

Karma” is a joyful and quirky song, showing Swift’s fun side of a heartfelt album that could be listened to for hours on end.

“Sweet Nothing” – 8/10

With the lyrics being similar to several childhood lullabies, the slow sounds of the piano mixed with both high and low tunes, “Sweet Nothing” is a truly heartfelt song.

“Mastermind” – 9/10

The title of this track says it all. Taylor Swift is indeed a “Mastermind”, and the creative vocals mixed with the melodic tune of the song were a perfect choice to end the album.
