The annual Taste of SXU event was hosted on April 21. 

Attendees were able to choose from food trucks such as The Fat Shallot, Da Pizza Dude, The Tamale Spaceship, Get Sum Yum Dum, Ice Cream on Wheels, Doughsguys, a churro station, and a drink station. The event also featured a DJ and games such as Connect 4.

Ellie Andersen, who’s favorite truck was The Fat Shallot, emphasized her excitement about the event, stating that she would “…For sure, 100%” attend again next year. 

Students were given 4 tickets each, 2 of which were valid for entrees, 1 of which for a drink, and the final being for a dessert.

Lola (LJ) Shoemaker stated that “It was a nice change from the meal plan.”

Posted on the Den, the event was described as “Join SAB for their most popular event of the year! Enjoy all kinds of delicious foods from famous food trucks from all over the Chicagoland area!”

Mary Eileen Ward, who ordered from The Fat Shallot, indicated that she would love to see a truck involving cake next year.

Students expressed that they were so excited to see what next year’s event brings, especially emphasizing their excitement about the food trucks that could be present. 

Shealynn Scott stated that, “It’s really great to be out here with everyone, seeing the members of our community really contributing to the whole culture of this campus. It feels like a real return to normalcy.”
