This game gave coach Ed Vucinic the opportunity to play the whole roster as junior goalkeeper Daniel Martiznez was the only one to play 90 minutes.
Overall the performance from SXU was excellent and they are hoping to continue building momentum as the season goes on.
SXU’s next encounter will see them playing University of St. Francis on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Deaton field. Kickoff is set to start at 7:30 p.m. After back to back wins, the Cougars are looking to add another win to the column.

Chicago Fire’s season
Another MLS season has passed and Chicago Fire sits 15th place with 30 points in 33 games played entering their season finale with Nashville FC on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Soldier Field.
Fire’s last game out against Nashville panned out to a 1-0 loss on September 18. In that game, they created openings but could not capitalize.
On Wednesday, Oct. 2, they lost a 4-3 thriller to Charlotte. In the 58th minute, they were down 4-1, but the comeback was too late and the Fire saw defeat once again.
They struggled significantly to play on a consistent basis. Entering their final game, the Fire only has seven wins, 17 draws, and nine defeats.
Fire hasn’t been able to keep leads or extend them, resulting in not qualifying for the playoff spot.
Some positives from the season was Belgium forward Hugo Cuypers scoring 10 goals through the season and six from midfiler Brian Gutierrez. Gutierrez is a young 21-year-old so there is still a lot of room for improvement and development.
Coach Frank Koplas will have a long fall and winter to reconstruct the team before the season starts again in February. Multiple decisions will have to be made to improve the overall structure of the squad and play much better than they did this campaign.
