SXU To Hold 2022 Scarlet and Gray Awards Ceremony

On Thursday, April 21, Saint Xavier’s Center For SUCCESS will host an in-person 2022 Scarlet and Gray Awards Ceremony at McGuire Hall from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.—followed with a reception.

According to the mySXU portal announcement from Feb. 28, “Each year, the SXU community gathers to celebrate and formally recognize student achievements in leadership, service, and extracurricular involvement at Saint Xavier University during the Scarlet and Gray Awards.”

In a March 10 email interview, Joshua Bogaski-Baugh—the Executive Director of Student Success—stated that, “Departments from across the University including Campus Life, Campus Ministry, Center for SUCCESS, Dean of Students, the Learning Center, Student Media, [Student Success Program] SSP, and Admission, recognize and award students for their accomplishments throughout the year.”

“The individual departments set their own criteria for their respective awards and choose individuals based upon those criteria,” Bogaski-Baugh added.

In addition to receiving departmental awards, “…students who successfully complete the Cougars LEAD Leadership Certificate are awarded their certificate of completion and medallion to wear at graduation”—as stated on the SXU Website.

Campus Community members interested in nominating students for the ceremony are encouraged to fill out a Nomination Form for the following awards: The President’s Award for Service Leadership, Dean of Students’ Award for Student Leadership, Cougar Spirit Award, Advisor of the Year Award, Program of the Year Award, RSO of the Year Award, and Student Employees of the Year Award.

The submission deadline for nominations is April 1.

“Our program this year will have some additional awards,” noted Bogaski-Baugh. “But generally speaking, it will likely follow a similar format,” he said.

Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to RSVP on The Den for this Spring annual event.
