Student leaders are some of the most dedicated and impactful people on campus. Saint Xavier University (SXU) is incredibly fortunate to have such a well-rounded group of individuals who are devoted to serving their peers and the SXU community. Antonio “Elijah” Diaz-Morales, SXU student leader, has committed himself to giving back and making his presence on campus valuable for all students he encounters.
Diaz-Morales is heavily involved in several organizations on campus. He serves as a member of the programming board for Saint Xavier Council (SXC) and is the director of night and weekend events. In addition to SXC, Diaz-Morales has been a three-year member of Tri Beta and will serve as the treasurer starting the fall 2018 semester. Although, he is best known around campus for his role as president of Executive Board for the Residence Hall Association (RHA).
Living on campus at SXU has provided Diaz-Morales with a large pool of residents that he is able to work with on a daily basis. He especially enjoys the one-on-one interactions with others that allow him to gain valuable feedback that he can bring to his board and put into action. While he was initially unsure if he would attend SXU, Diaz-Morales is happy with his choice and loves the environment and connections he has made on campus.
“I went on a tour and loved the small community aspect, and you can network with staff, faculty and other students and actually make connections,” said Diaz-Morales.
A junior general biology major, Diaz-Morales hopes to improve the environment for all people on campus and works tirelessly to plan and run events for his various student organizations. Although it can be challenging at times, accomplishing a long-awaited goal makes the difficult times worth it. Diaz-Morales can often be found in the Student Organization Center lending a hand any way he can.
“I would like to make a small difference with one person each day that could be passed on to create a larger impact,” said Diaz-Morales.
Throughout his time at SXU, Diaz-Morales has had many accomplishments. He was inducted into the biological honors society last spring and has helped implement many positive changes within the residence halls. One of his greatest achievements in residence life is the enactment of Resident’s Assembly, which is a town-hall type meeting used to hear resident’s feedback about living on campus.
Diaz-Morales continues to strive for excellence in all that he does on campus at SXU. A strong proponent of fostering community, he truly values the friendships he has made and networking he has completed through student leadership and hopes to continue developing and refining the skills he has learned thus far.
“I have met so many people that have helped me do what I love and actually act upon it,” said Diaz-Morales. “You either realize your goals, or they help realize them for you.”
Want to check out some of his upcoming events? Diaz-Morales will be co-hosting RHA’s first ever Resident’s Day event along with the rest of the Executive Board on Saturday, April 21, as well as assisting in SXC’s annual “Taste of SXU” event coming up on Wednesday, April 25.
Thank you, Elijah! SXU is proud to have such a loyal student leader and appreciates your service to the SXU community.
