Spirit Week will take place Oct. 2-8. There are many different activities students can join in on to get involved! 

This year’s spirit week theme is Welcome to Champland, where dreams come true!

“I’ve heard this year’s spirit week is Barbie themed. I think that’s pretty cool,” says Yuviana Ramirez, a SXU student. 

Saint Xavier University will be hosting a DEI Summit, skate party, bonfire, tailgate, carnival and many other activities for spirit week. 

Cougar Cup will be taking place for spirit week as well! Each RSO (Registered Student Organization) will have the opportunity to gain points and possibly win prize money for their events. 

On Monday Oct. 2, there will be a Spirit of SXU showcase. Students must RSVP on the Den in order to participate. 

For the showcase, there will be a SXU meet and greet from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. During the meet and greet, students will meet other members of the showcase and the event’s organizers. SXU showcase rehearsals will be from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday Sep. 21, Monday Sep. 25, and Thursday Sep. 28. 

There will also be a Diner Show held by WXAV 88.3 Chicago, SXU’s student radio station. This will be taking place in the Diner Atrium from 11AM -1PM on Monday Oct. 2. The Diner Show will include an interactive live broadcast from the Diner Atrium where listeners can participate in games and win prizes.

There is a women’s volleyball game taking place in the Shannon Center at 7 p.m. on Tuesday Oct. 3. The RSO with the most Barbie spirit will win points towards their Cougar Cup. Students are encouraged to dress in Barbie theme for the game. 

Another event that will be taking place on Oct. 3 is a Record Pop Up sale. This will be taking place in the Weissman Student Lounge on the first floor of the Warde Academic Center. Students will be able to buy records, CDs and cassette tapes.  

A  DEI Summit presented by Dr. Damon Williams will be occurring on Oct. 3. This event will be taking place in the McGuire Hall. Williams will be presenting information on different ideas including; diversity, equity and inclusion and their importance in today’s education. 

Campus life has planned a RSO Carnival. The carnival will take place on the Schmitt Quad from 3-5PM on Wednesday Oct. 4. There will be free entry for all students, prizes and live music included. 

Another activity planned for students is a disco themed SXU skate party at the Fleetwood Roller Rink from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 5. In order to attend, students must RSVP on the Den. Students must meet in the Butler Lobby at 5PM for check in and must take school transportation in order to attend. 

The annual SXU bonfire and parade will be taking place on Friday Oct. 6. The bonfire will be located on the Schmitt Quad from 8-9:30 p.m. Students will be able to enjoy snacks, live music, games, and more. 

The parade will start at 6 p.m. in front of the Rubloff dorm hall. Students are able to compete in a best banner competition. Whoever brings the best banner will get a chance to win a huge prize for your RSO. 

On Saturday Oct. 7 a Cougar Tailgate will be taking place, located in parking lot 2 from 12-4 p.m. There will be many different activities for students to participate in including; games, poster making and more. Free food will also be provided.

There will be a Mass Service taking place on Sunday Oct. 8 in the McDonough Chapel from 7-8 p.m.
