SXU Ranks On 2021 Best List of Colleges

Saint Xavier University has ranked  on the 2021 list of best colleges by US News and World Reports. As a Chicago university of only a few thousand students, Saint Xavier is  highly ranked against a large pool of other educational institutions.

Saint Xavier ranks 32 on the 2021 list of Best Value Schools. SXU ranks 40 in Best Colleges for Veterans. In Regional Universities of the Midwest, SXU holds the rank of 60 place. It is important to note that there are thousands of schools and universities considered for the 2021 list. This accomplishment is an impressive feat as SXU contends regionally and against thousands of schools across the United States. In the U.S., there are close to four thousand three hundred academic institutions that grant degrees as of 2019.

Students appreciate the support they receive both in and out of the classroom. The connections they make with their peers, faculty, and staff are also crucial to their success. With a fifteen to one student to instructor ratio.

Paulina Goryl, executive president of Saint Xavier Council, says, “I am honestly surprised, in a good way, to see that Saint Xavier University ranked as one of the best colleges. SXU seems very small, and I feel like many people aren’t aware of us because of this, so it is nice to see this recognition.”

Saint Xavier has less than five thousand full-time students. The student population is below the national average of about six thousand students per university.

Goryl also stated that “SXU is worthy of their placement because of all the credentials they have. SXU and the Sisters of Mercy also contribute to the community. They are also generous with grants and scholarships that become helpful for the students.”

When it comes to low-income students from SXU’s undergraduate program, almost 60% of this demographic receive federal Pell grants.

Katy Thompson, Dean of Students and Director of Student Life, has had a long history with Saint Xavier. “I am a product of SXU education as a double alumna and can attest that we have always been committed to providing a student-centered experience while offering excellent academic preparedness.  Over the years, we have enhanced how we deliver these experiences through collaboration, cultivation of resources, and listening to our students to best meet their needs.

Nadia Atton, an SXU student-athlete, finds that “the accounting program is phenomenal; the knowledge gave to me will differently help me find a good job after graduation.”

The full-time employment rate for SXU students graduating with a bachelor’s degree was nearly 60%. Those SXU students graduating with a master’s degree fared even better with an almost 70% rate.

Jennifer Seitz, a senior student of the Graham School Of Management, wants the SXU community to remember that “…the business program has the AACSB accreditation. Not many colleges and universities can claim to have this important accreditation.”

The acronym stands for the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. A prestigious accreditation of such consists of less than two hundred universities across the world. Thus, Saint Xavier is part of the only 5% of universities internationally that are accredited.
