Beginning October 3, the Saint Xavier University Music Department Concert Series goes underway during the Fall 2021 semester.
The concerts will be held throughout October, November and early December. All are welcome to attend.
Most of the performances will be in two different on-campus locations, including McGuire Hall and the Music Performance Space. In addition, the music department may host some of them in McDonough Chapel.
As stated on the flyer, the first two events occurred in early October. The Jazz Faculty & Rhythm Recital was Sunday, October 3, at 7:30 p.m. in McGuire Hall, following Jazz Night I on Friday, October 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the same place.
After these two opening concerts, another event will feature the University Band, or Wind Ensemble, playing various musical selections on Friday, November 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Performance Space.
By Sunday, November 7, the next concert features the University Chorale & Chamber Singers. These choral ensemble groups plan to sing in the Performance Space at 3 p.m. Other upcoming showcases are Flute & Voice Studio on Sunday, November 14, held at McGuire Hall at 3 p.m. as well.
Chamber Ensembles will also perform at their band concert, which will take place in McGuire Hall on Sunday, November 21, at 3 p.m. for community members to enjoy.
To kick off December, the Jazz Night II event will start at 7:30 p.m. in McGuire Hall on Friday, December 3. By Saturday evening on December 4, the music department will sponsor a Piano Showcase at the same location and time.
Lastly, to end the Fall Semester term, the university’s band program will be hosting their Christmas Spectacular concert on Sunday, December 5, at 3 p.m. in the Performance Space.
Concert tickets are available for purchase at the door and are free for all prospective SXU students, faculty and staff with a current ID card.
The General Admission is $6.00. The cost for senior citizens, visiting students and guests, and military members are $5.00.
These ticket prices are the standard cost for all concerts unless listed on the university website as otherwise. Other event dates may be subject to change.
