Through the job fair students were able to connect with seventy-seven different employers, this did not include the sponsors.

The main employers that attended were for the healthcare professions, teaching and education, banking and accounting, and for law enforcement/military majors.

When asked what he was hoping to get out of the internship and job fair, student Tyler Long said, “I was looking for internships for medical school and volunteering opportunities and I got a couple from Advocate Health Center, so I think that’d be a good opportunity for me in the summer to get after.”

The main goal of the SXU Internship and Job Fair is to connect robust students and alumni candidates to employers hiring for internships, both full-time and part time positions, in a wide range of industries.

“I think it is very important for students to get involved in creative development in their freshman year that will help them understand the world of work, understand how their skills and interest fit into the world of work and help them choose the right major to pursue. If you understand the world to work, then you know how to prepare yourself through outside activities, extra co-curricular activities, and your curricular activities. You can prepare for your internships which will lead to jobs,
so that’s very important,” says Dean of Students Tony Campbell.

Students and alums came to the Internship and Job Fair dressed professionally with their updated resumes, looking for jobs and internships that best fit their majors.

Internships are great way to get experience before going into a job, after a student gains all the knowledge from college. They’re highly recommended no matter the students major or career plans.
