The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, or CCAC for short, has recognized two of SXU’s finest for their stellar performances in their sports.
The first is Senior Cross Country runner Nicole Watkins. Watkins was awarded the CCAC Cross Country Runner of the Week. This is due to her stellar performances in the first tournament, in which she took second with an impressive running time of 18:25.5 in the 5K race. With the National Catholic Champions tournament coming up on September 16, anyone can bet that Watkins is going to use this tournament to cement her place as one of the top runners in the CCAC.
The next person to be recognized by CCAC was senior goalkeeper Alex Perry. Perry was recognized as the CCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Against Cornerstone University, Perry was the key factor of the game as she had 19 total saves. One of which being a big save that came in the final moments of play. SXU is scheduled to go against Davenport University on September 10, and you can bet the offense must be a bit intimidated by the defensive capabilities of Alex Perry and Sophomore Carly Bledsoe.
