On one side we got The TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS and other THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS. This Sunday, February 7th, 2020 Super Bowl 55 will be played. Like every Super Bowl Sunday, it will be filled with chicken wings, Dorito commercials, and a battle will ensue for 60 minutes, to hold up the Lombardi Trophy. Let’s talk about this highly anticipated match up.
Let’s get it out in the open with knowledge that everyone knows it’s hard to stop the Chiefs offense
Tom Brady is not going to be able to compete in a shootout with P.Mahomes, his best option is to go toe-to-toe with him. Slow the game down. It’s fine if KC scores quick, if the Bucs can hold possession of the ball and clock they can win. Best way to hold the ball is by running the ball. It so happens the Bucs got 2 good running backs that can just do that. Even if they were ranked 4th in fewest rushing yards this season, it’s because they did not have to rely on the run to win the game. They have shown they can run the ball when they want to and it should be easy with KC ranked 20th in stopping the run.
If the Bucs were not running as much this season what were they doing? They were throwing, They have a great receiving core who can all catch. And I am not just talking about the WR. The big difference maker in this game will be the Tight Ends. Bucs have 2 good ones, Chiefs will have their hands full trying to stop Gronk & Brate. Chiefs covering TE’s this season has been horrendous 5th in most yards to TE. Chiefs are going to have to figure out how to stop the safety blankets for the QB, because TE’s thrive in two spots, 3rd down and redzone. Chiefs redzone ranked 32 in stopping opponents. If the game is not won in the trenches it’s won on 3rd down/redzone.
Speaking of the trenches Bucs have a good O-Line that only allowed 22 sacks this season 4th fewest all season. An upright Tom Brady who is throwing is never good. Luckily the Chiefs are 10th best at getting to the QB. Let’s stay in the trenches but flip sides KC is going to be without their left tackle and their right guard is not the greatest and is going to be tasked with stopping N.Suh 93.
Chiefs may have 3 good running backs, but it won’t matter which 3 has the ball. Bucs have only allowed ONE 100 yard rusher all season. So they are quite effective in stopping the run. Stopping the run game makes any team 1-Dimensional. Can’t run = No Play action a big part of the Chiefs offense. But even if you eliminate the run. You are still tasked with stopping T. Kelce 87 and T.Hill 10, in Week 12 these 2 teams played and they had no idea how to stop Hill. So it will be interesting if they come up with something. You can only stop 1. Impossible to double them both since that is a 4-2 match up. Someone else is bound to be open then. No matter what you do you can’t stop this Chiefs offense no one has all season besides the Raiders who formula only worked once. And the Chargers, but the Chiefs choose to lose by resting their starters. Andy Reid after a bye week and game planning is dangerous as well. So even if the “grave diggers”a.k.a. the Bucs DBs manage to stop T. Kelce 87 and T.Hill 10 they have another plan. The only way to win is cause a turnover which Bucs have been doing but P.Mahomes 15 does not throw INTs. Only 6 on 588 passes so 1% chance he will throw an INT. Even with a banged up O-line Mahomes won’t be easy to sack. From the sounds of its an even match up. Will it come down to Special teams?
Bucs ranked 32[ worse] in allowing 33.6 yards a return. The Chiefs are 5th with 25.8 yards. Will it come down to a threaded kick? If so the Bucs have a 90% chance of making a kick. If it is 50+ yards they have a 50/50 chance, 1/2 on 50 yarders. But Chiefs edge them out with making 92% of kick and 4/4 perfect on 50+ kick.
This game is truly going to come down to who ever makes the first mistake of the game. But regardless we are in for a great game Sunday.
But I still think the Buccaneers will edge the Chiefs out.
Super Bowl Sunday is 2/7/2021 5:30 kick off. Final Prediction is Buccaneers 36 Chiefs 31
Even though they’re not playing Bears by a million, Bear down.
