“Sunbeam” part one of Alina Baraz’ EP series

R&B singer Alina Baraz released part one of her EP series “Sunbeam” on Sept 24. It’s light, soothing, and perfect for a night in. “Sunbeam” contains four songs making the EP a total of 11 minutes and 48 seconds long.

It’s about love, running away, and building foundations with special people. An easy and quick listen, yet it is extremely powerful for the little time Baraz allows us to experience “Sunbeam.”

If You Let Me

“If you’re ready, don’t keep your feelings to yourself, if you let me I’ll touch up all the things you tell..”

Baraz gets straight to the point here, she’s wanting to be let in, only if they’re “ready.” The title is self explanatory, she expresses her longing to enter someone’s heart. Baraz is patient and is willing to put in the work for this person, in the end she cares for them, greatly.

Between Us

“I’ll meet you somewhere that’s sweeter where they can’t reach us, no more wasted days between us..”

Baraz needs clarity in “Between Us.” She says, “never meant to hurt you, I f’d up, I know it wasn’t cool..” She clearly did something wrong, but she doesn’t want to waste anymore time, she needs this person and is taking accountability for the disruption she caused.

Alone With You

“Alone with you, that’s all that it take, I’m home with you no matter the place, I’ve grown with you, yet our love stays the same..”

Baraz has found a home with this person, she is their ride or die. She wants to “vibe under the moon” and will be there at the end of their “long days.” Sounds nice doesn’t it?

I Could Imagine

“I keep running from all the things I want, I keep running away from you, why do I choose to..”

In a perfect world Baraz imagines getting lost in their mind and eyes, but just keeps running away from something that can blossom beautifully. Even if she “pushes away,” she wants them to stay. She wants it all, but is that how a healthy relationship should be?

“Sunbeam” puts you in a trance. You take a trip into Alina Baraz’ mind and perception of love. She expresses her troubles and needs in relationships, something some of us can relate to.

Baraz has now released part two of the “Sunbeam” EP series; she introduces “Moongate.”
