This spring, designers brought you 70s chic for spring fashion trends to watch. For summer, 90s are back as we rediscover simple dresses, chunky heels, and choker necklaces. Summer 2015 is less than two months away. What will you be wearing?
Cinched waists and bigger butts have taken over since the Kardashians stepped on the scene. Due to this epidemic, pants will be taking on a new shape.
“Mom jeans” from the 90s are the magic pair of jeans that make the butt look bigger, waist look slimmer, and legs to look longer. Along with those high waisted jeans, Kanye West has brought back the overskirt.
With dresses and skirts over pants becoming more common in the fashion world, short peplums, and wrapped versions are a quick way to update a classic pair of trousers or jeans. This style is appropriate for both men and women.
Black is no longer the new black. For years, black was the go-to color, but this year, brown has been the modern, fresh color people are opting for. As far as 2015 color palettes go, they are not very “summery” at all.
Colors like woodbine green, titanium grey and–the most popular–maroon, have been spotted all over retail racks.
Men, you, too, have some fashion tips to adhere to. Back with psychedelic influence, men will be in the 70s with a punk rock feel. Top designers like Katie Eary, Prada, and Saint Laurent have referenced the style of the past with slim jeans, bold prints, and far out fringe. Earthy browns, floral, and mustard yellow will carry out this theme.
Childish Gambino wore such style in his video Telegraph Ave starring Jhene Aiko in her Hawaii inspired outfit. Men, your key pieces will include, wider-legged trousers, bomber jackets, tie-dye crewnecks, along with desert boots.
Jaden Smith, Kanye West, and Colin Farrell have been spotted in current trends. Rihanna has been seen as a fashion icon for years now. Whatever she is wearing, she makes headlines and bold statements.
Just last week at Coachella, Rihanna was spotted wearing a purple fur coat, hot pink Dr. Marten boots, a little black dress with a dark purple lip, and black chocker to compliment the outfit. This year’s statement is all about simplicity and basics, with bold statement pieces and colors to give it a pop.
This summer will be all about staying cool in all the hot fashion. Pull out those throwback Thursday pictures to get inspiration from the 90s and make it your own. Break out those all denim outfits, fanny packs and Dr. Martens and join the new kids on the block.
A nostalgic generation has influenced fashion, as we know it. This summer, we’ll take it back to the good ol’days.
