It was a good day for both the Men and Women’s cross country teams as they continue to impress at every meet they compete in.
Men
They managed to place third out of 13 teams. Looking at the individual performances, sophomore Abel Hernandez continues to lead the team with impressive performances as he finished the 8k race with a time of 25:15:96.
This timing once again left him with another impressive second place finish. Also having impressive outings, was junior Alan Guzman and senior Jaris Pastaras. Guzman placed sixth with a time of 25:55:98 and Pastaras finished fifteenth with a time of 28:33:11.
As a team, Saint Xavier finished with a time of 2:15:13.04, just five seconds shy of getting the top spot.
Women
Moving on to the Women, they also had an impressive outing as they went third out of 13 teams as well.
Individual performances to note was sophomore Ellie Willging who set a 5k race record with a time of 18:03:84, and finished in first place beating out the next competitor by a whopping 34 seconds.
Also having impressive performances was junior Nicole Maier and sophomore Sierra Downey. Maier placed eleventh with a time of 19:22:20 and Downey finished fifteenth with a time of 19:26:87.
As a team, the Saint Xavier Cougars finished with a time 1:37:06.21. That impressive time was also just two seconds shy from the top spot. Overall both the Men’s and Women’s cross country teams are competing at a relatively high level.
