Tues, April 12th
The 25-4 SXU Cougars are away and they are matched up against the 18-12 Judson Eagles.

Game 1
The first game saw SXU taking the 6-0 win in seven innings. Senior shortstop Rebeka Ferguson started off the scoring in the 3rd with a homer down centerfield. Third basemen Jessica Arebalo added an RBI single to tally the score at 2-0 at the end of the 3rd inning.

At the end of the 5th, the Cougars scored 4 more runs off of RBI’s the likes of senior pitcher Nicole Nonnemacher and another RBI by Arebalo. No more runs were scored by either team meaning the Cougars took the game by a long slide. Nicole Nonnemacher continued to show off striking out 13 batters and improving her win totals to 15-1.

Game 2
While this game was a bit closer contested, SXU was still able to take the victory 12-10 in 7 innings. SXU was striking on all cylinders early, scoring 11 runs in the first 4 innings alone. The Judson Eagles weren’t going down without a fight. Seeing as Nonnemacher subbed out of the game, the Eagles saw their opportunity to score by scoring 8 runs on 7 hits in the 4th and fifth inning.

At the end of the day though senior centerfielder Kasey Kanga and the Cougars were too much to handle for the Judson Eagles. Kanga scored three of SXU’s 12 runs to lead her team to their second victory against Judson.

Thurs, April 14th
The 27-4 Cougars found themselves matched up against 16-9 Olivet Nazarene at home in what would be a very competitive series of games.

Game 1
The first game saw the Cougars beating Olivet 9-5 in 7 innings of play. The 3rd inning was SXU’s as they scored 9 runs off two double RBI’s and an RBI single.

While the Tigers scored a couple of runs in the next inning, they were still unable to come back from a 9-5 deficit losing this game. Nonnemacher and Rebeka Ferguson both had big games for the Cougars team, propelling them to victory.

Game 2
The second game was a lot slower paced than the 3rd. neither team scored until the 4th inning in which SXU was finally able to score off of an RBI single from junior catcher Brittany Pilmer to put SXU up 1-0.

Pilmer struck again in the 6th inning behind an RBI which put the Cougars up 2-0. The Tigers were down, but they were not out as they scored two runs of their own in the 7th innings to tie the game at 2 runs apiece.

With all bases loaded in the 8th inning the Cougars had a chance to take the lead with Nonnemacher at the bat, but she struck out, and the game was called off due to darkness. Despite the outcome, junior Brittany Pilmer really shined in this game, giving SXU their only runs in the game, and seemingly keeping the team competitive.
