Shop Smart at Thrift Shops

You can find almost anything at a thrift store. And that is exciting! It is like your own personal treasure hunt. Sifting through the packed racks of random clothing and antiques, maybe you will find a priceless art work, or a t-shirt that says, “Bob’s 10th Annual Barbeque.” Both are equally exciting!

Do you thrift shop?   You really should be.  Thrift shopping can be fun and exciting, like mentioned, and it is also cheap! It is 2017 and if there is anything we should all be doing, it is saving money. Clothes are often ridiculously expensive nowadays. Thirty dollars for a plain white shirt at a big-chain store? I’ll pass.

If there is also something else we should be doing more in 2017, it is recycling. Thrift stores keep a lot of clothes out of the landfill. Just because your favorite T-Shirt does not fit you anymore does not mean you have to throw it away. Give it to a thrift shop and someone else can have the chance to make it their favorite T-shirt. And while you are there, find a new favorite shirt for yourself!

Thrift stores never have a shortage of costume-worthy clothes, ugly Christmas sweaters, and random T-Shirts. It is so easy to have a personally unique style by shopping at a thrift store. There is also never a shortage of odd items that make really great gifts for your friends. Who knows, maybe your friend will appreciate the “I Heart Edward Cullen” Twilight T-Shirt or singing fish wall mount?

Shopping at thrift stores also help the community. Many thrift stores are non-profit and team up with charities, big and small, to help donate to those charities. Just think, you can easily help so many charities by simply buying an antique picture frame or a pink tutu for Halloween.

Thrift stores are underrated because it is so much more appealing to buy your clothes from Nordstrom or Target. But maybe next time, while you are on your way to the mall, you should take a different turn and check out your local thrift store. You never know what you might find!
