Netflix has just released a teaser trailer for the upcoming show about the life of the legendary singer, Selena Quintanilla, called Selena: The Series. Selena Quintanilla, better known as Selena, was a Latin singer who took the world by storm with her beautiful vocals, dancing, and bigger than life stage presence.
Selena’s life was unfortunately cut short after she was shot by her assistant and president of her fanclub, Yolanda Saldívar. The trailer was only about two minutes long, but it set the stage for how the show was going to represent the late star. The trailer began by showing Selena, who is played by Christian Serratos, heading to the stage while her father is narrating her rise to fame. It was a beautiful introduction to the magic that is about to bless our screens.
The release of this series came as quite a shock to many, due to the fact that there is already a film portraying Selena’s life starring the one and only, Jeniffer Lopez. Although the film did a fabulous job of portraying the late singer’s life, it was not approved by her family. However, this series has been approved by her family to be released.
Fans are hoping for a closer look at the singer’s life and to see another portrayal of the star. There is also another star in the movie, Julio Macias. He plays Oscar, aka “Spooky” on the hit Netflix show On My Block. Macias will be playing Pete Astudillo, who was a bandmate of Selena’s band called Selena y Los Dinos. It is going to be exciting to see another young actor play the role of such an iconic musician and see a more modern portrayal of all the stars being played.
Selena was a star who only had a short life here on earth, but she made a huge impact on the world during her time here. Her legacy will forever remain strong. Even twenty-five years after her death, the pain and heartache is still there for everyone who loved and admired her. The untouched potential and future career moves are always wrapped up in her fans’ minds, but the music she created during her short career will be cherished in people’s hearts for a lifetime. My biggest hope is that this series does an incredible job of carrying on her legacy and respecting her inspirational career and beautiful life.
