SXU released a new app mid-July, allowing students better, more efficient access to University resources. You can download this application from your smartphone’s app store, searching for the application “SXU Mobile.”
College is a demanding discipline, and students are often required to be knowledgeable about their assignments, their emails and their grades.
Sometimes, students have difficulty accessing those things while on the move or when they do not have access to Wi-Fi.
Cellular Phones have somewhat bridged this gap; however, there are still compatibility issues with different types of phones, and operating systems, and some students still can not access or have trouble accessing the school’s website.
Molly Maley-Gaik, Director of Administrative Services from Information Technologies at the university, commented on why the SXU app was created.
“The purpose of the SXU app is to offer current and prospective students the convenience of mobility to explore what Saint Xavier University has to offer and manage their personal University interactions,” said Maley-Gaik.
The app is a collection of almost all SXU website features, with access to Blackboard, MyCourses, MyMail, class schedules, grades, and many other departments and features which are available on the main webpage.
This makes it slightly more convenient for students, by bringing together all the features of the SXU website into one concise package.
The App was first released mid-July, and has been continually updated since. It was created by Molly Maley-Gaik, Jennifer Younker – Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at SXU – as well as their respective teams.
The software to make it was included with the “student information system” which is currently in use today.
Director Maley-Gaik remarked on the reason why there has not been an SXU app up until now. “The University has been dedicated to reviewing and implementing the best mobile solution for our students. “With the development of the integrated approach, we found ourselves best positioned to release the app at this time.”
The development team is working on continual improvement and is addressing problems as they arise. The app should become more and more polished and stream-lined as the year continues.
The SXU App is free and is available to anyone who has a smartphone, tablet, or any other device with access to “apps” and “app stores.”
Students are encouraged to send comments and suggestions through the school page’s forms.
Director Maley-Gaik commented on how students could give their input on the app. “The best way to keep us informed of your thoughts is to complete the ‘Feedback’ form on the home page of the my.sxu.edu portal.”
