Homecoming Week is fast approaching.
While some choose to participate in the many celebrations, like the annual bonfire, others will participate in some of the numerous sporting events happening during this festive week.
This week, there will be events from the Saint Xavier football team, the men’s and women’s golf teams, and the men’s and women’s soccer teams.
To kick things off, on September 18th, the SXU women’s soccer team will be play- ing Holy Cross College at Deaton Field. Holy Cross enters the game with a re- cord of 2-2-1, while the Cougars enter this game with a record of 1-4-1. The Cougars defeated Holy Cross last year 2-1.
The next day, the Saint Xavier men’s soccer team will face Holy Cross College at Deaton Field. Holy Cross enters the game with a record of 1-6, while the Cougars enter this game with a record of 3-4.
The Cougars defeated Holy Cross last year 2-1 in an exciting double overtime
game.
The last time the Cougars defeated St. Francis (IL) was back in 2016. With that game, Homecoming Week, in terms of sporting events, is over.
This year’s Homecoming Week is set to be another exciting one, especially when it
comes to the sporting events taking place.
The Cougars are hoping for an easier time around this year. On September 21st to 22nd, the SXU men’s and women’s golf teams travel to Blackthorn Golf Course in South Bend, Indiana to participate in the 2018 Battle at Blackthorn.
The Saint Xavier football team, the Saint Xavier men’s soccer team, and the Saint Xavier women’s soccer team will also play one the 22nd.
The first team that day will be the SXU Football team at 1:00 PM at Deaton Field
against the #1 ranked St. Francis (IN) Cougars.
St. Francis (IN) enters this game with a record of 2-0, while the SXU Cougars enter with a record of 1-2.
In what should be an extremely exciting game, the #21 Saint Xavier Cougars are looking to hand #1 St. Francis (IN) their first lost since October of 2016.
A Saint Xavier victory would be the first one they have had over St. Francis (IN) since October of 2014.
After the football team wraps up their game, the women’s soccer team plays St. Francis (IL) at 5:00 PM, also at Deaton Field.
The last time these two teams played, they drew 2-2 in double overtime.
The Cougars have not defeated St. Francis (IL) since 2011.
The final game of the day will be played by the men’s soccer team against St. Francis (IL) at 8:00 PM, also at Deaton Field.
The last time these two teams played, St. Francis (IL) defeated the Cougars 2-1.
