The countdown has begun! The arrival of the new royal baby is just days away and the world has its eyes on London as we await the great news.
This will be the second child for Prince William and Princess Kate and 1-year-old Prince George will become a big brother to either a new baby sister or brother.
Here is all you need to know about the Duke and Duchesses’ soon to be new bundle of joy.
The Due Date
Although an official date was not announced, it was stated that the baby would be born in late April. If the baby is born towards the end of the month, it could share a birthday with the Queen or could be born on William and Kate’s fourth wedding anniversary.
Judging by the signs and barricades outside the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital, the arrival of the new baby is quickly approaching. News reporters and even some royal baby enthusiasts have already been camping outside the hospital anticipating any news about the new baby.
Will it be a Boy or a Girl?
Just like with her first pregnancy, the Duke and Duchess have not revealed the gender of the baby. Even though there is nothing wrong if the baby is a boy, fans are hoping that the baby will be a girl and many people’s bets are that it will be a little princess.
As for names, possible contenders for a girl are: Alice, Elizabeth, Alexandra, Charlotte, and Victoria. Potential boy names are: Albert, Alfred, Frederick, Arthur, and Charles. People have been picking which name they believe will be chosen and if it is a girl, the name will most likely be either Alice or Alexandra and for a boy, either Frederick or Albert.
Where Will the Baby be Born?
As tradition holds, the royal baby will be born at St. Mary’s Hospital in the Lindo Wing. This is where Prince William, Prince Harry, and Prince George have all been born. Prince William and Harry’s cousins Peter and Zara Phillips were born there as well. Staying here though comes with a high price tag.
Per night, it costs a whopping $8,135 but is reasonable considering the amenities that are included. One main thing is the size of the room. Kate will be taken care of in a one of the deluxe rooms. Other amenities include a TV, radio, phone, and Wi-Fi.
Where Will the Royal Baby Rank in Line for the Throne?
Since Prince George is third in line for the throne, this makes the new royal baby fourth in line. The new baby, or as it is often dubbed “spare to heir”, will then knock Prince Harry down to fifth in line and everyone else down another rank.
The birth of the new royal baby will be a joyous time for William and Kate as well as the rest of the royal family and the world. It has been said that Kate will take a longer maternity leave than last time to spend more time with the baby.
William will be nearby as he works as an air ambulance pilot and his training will end towards the beginning of summer. This means that he will be able to spend time with his family. Royal baby mania will continue to be all the rage until the arrival but the main question that is on everyone’s mind still remains: pink or blue?
