Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to cuddle up on the couch with your loved one and watch a romantic movie. Here are some of my top picks for the greatest romantic films.
Love & Basketball (2000)
Most people probably think love and basketball have nothing do with each other, but in the film Love & Basketball, it’s the only thing two lovers and friends have in common. This movie tells the story of Monica and Quincy two people that love basketball almost as much as they love each other.
When they were both kids, Monica’s family moved next door and Quincy quickly found out after their first meeting that Monica wasn’t like any other girl he had met. Monica shared the same love for basketball as Quincy did, but they both had a competitive nature that drove them to be the best which put them at odds with each other throughout their relationship. The film tells the story of how it took half a lifetime for their love to develop on and off the court.
When Harry Met Sally (1989)
A classic love story between two unlikely lovers that takes several years to tell. Harry Burns and Sally Albright are both new college graduates when they decide to share a ride to New York City. They end up having wonderful yet brutally honest conversation that eventually spawns into an argument that causes them to go their separate ways.
The film shows them meeting again and again over the course of several years and each time they discover little by little what love truly means. This is an amazingly witty and entertaining romantic comedy about love and life starring Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal.
The Notebook (2004)
I am putting this movie on this small list only because there are about 50 movies everyone in this generation should see and The Notebook is one of them. Whether you end up liking the movie or not you have to see it for yourself to decide that.
You have to see this intriguing film based on a true story engrossed in true love and unbelievable heartbreak.
The film is about a poor working man that falls in love with a rich girl living the fancy life and even though they have huge social differences, they find a way to fall in love. The movie details this interesting story with an ending that will either have you throwing popcorn at the screen or have tears rolling down your face.
