Advertising of the Event The SXU Den
On Thursday, April 3, Resident Assistant (RA), Adriana Witkus, hosted an event called “Spread Kindness One Note At A Time.”
This event was held in the Pacelli Lounge from 4-5 p.m.
At Saint Xavier University (SXU), RAs organize monthly events that are focused on promoting one of the core values. Throughout the academic year, each month represents one of the seven core values, hospitality, diversity, respect, excellence, compassion, integrity, and learning for life. However, some of the core values may repeat throughout the school year.
With it being April, Witkus stated, “Since this month is dedicated to showing acts of service, I decided to do an event where students would show service to each other.”
Service is a core value that encourages students to give back to others.
In this event, students were invited to write inspirational quotes on a post-it-note to give to others. While students wrote to other students, they were provided with cookies and cupcakes.
Valentino Gist, an attendee, stated, “I enjoyed taking time to go to a chill event where I was able to enjoy some snacks and brighten up someone’s day.”
Many students, like Gist, were able to share uplifting messages that not only made others feel better but also gave the SXU students a sense of belonging.
Gist continued by stating, “I gave one of my friends a post-it note that I wrote. It was nice knowing that I made their day.”
Witkus continued saying, “I really wanted to do this event because I know when I am having a rough day, it always helps me to feel better when someone shares some kind words with me.”
“As the academic year comes to a close, I really wanted to have an event where students could come together and have time where they aren’t worrying about studying or doing homework,” he continued.
As the semester winds down, the RAs encourage students to continue spreading kindness and supporting one another one note at a time.
