Oscar Fashion and Music Round Up

Another red carpet has come and gone and this time some celebrities brought their A-game while others decided to leave it elsewhere. Here are the best and worst looks from Hollywood’s biggest night.

Best:
Anna Kendrick– The Into the Woods actress stunned again on the red carpet with a dress designed by Thakoon. The gown featured a jeweled halter neckline and the rest of the dress was coral made out of silk and chiffon. Her look was completed with diamond earrings and her hair was styled in an updo.

Rosamund Pike– Rosamund dazzled in a scarlet-hued gown designed by Givenchy Haute Couture. The top half of the dress was strapless with a scalloped-shaped neckline. The Gone Girl starlet’s dress was textured with roses from top to bottom and she finished the look with matching-colored heels.

Jennifer Aniston– Sparkling in a nude glittery Versace gown, Jennifer wowed the red carpet with this look. The gown was strapless and had a slit that went up the left side of the dress. The Cake actress kept it simple with minimal accessories and her hair down.

Worst:
Gwyneth Paltrow– Gwyneth did not impress with her red carpet look. The presenter for the evening wore a pale pink custom-made Ralph & Russo Couture dress that had a huge flower on her left shoulder. This dress looked like something from an 80’s prom and was hit or miss with many people.

Felicity Jones– The Theory of Everything starlet looked like she belonged in a Cinderella movie. Felicity’s Alexander McQueen gown was a silver halter style dress with an embellished bodice and full satin skirt. The design was a little too much to handle and was not flattering on the actress.

Sienna Miller– Sienna got a thumbs down with a black and navy blue number designed by Oscar de la Renta. The color combination did not go together on the Fox Catcher and American Sniper star along with the other fabrics used on the dress. To top it all off, the gown contained three bows placed in odd spots that just ruined the entire look.

Musical Performances:
At the 87th Oscars, the night was filled with powerful performances as well as ones we would like to forget. Lady Gaga brought down the house with a special tribute to the 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music.

The performance shocked many with her stunning voice and the world got to see a more tame performance from the songstress. Common and John Legend also had a powerful performance with their Oscar-winning hit “Glory” from the movie Selma.  Maroon 5 sang “Lost Stars”, a song that was from the movie Begin Again.  Tim McGraw sung Glen Campbell’s Oscar-nominated hit “I’m Not Gonna Miss You”. This performance was an emotional tribute to the singer and gave many goosebumps. Rita Ora wowed with a performance of “Grateful” which was a song written by Diane Warren.

And lastly, Jennifer Hudson’s powerful voice stunned as she sang “I Can’t Let Go”. These performances were epic but with the good there comes the bad. Tegan and Sara, along with The Lonely Island, performed “Everything is Awesome” from The Lego Movie. This  performance was a little bizarre with a bunch of people dancing around in crazy costumes. All in all, the evening was filled with stunning performances that will have people talking for days to come.
