My Top 5 Breakfast Places to Visit in the Area

You know what they say, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and if you are like me, it is your favorite meal of the day. There is really nothing like starting your day off right with a good, hearty breakfast. Here are my top 5 breakfast places (in no particular order) to visit around the area.

Eggheadz – Located in Tinley Park, Eggheadz is always the place to be for breakfast. This cozy and casual spot offers a wide variety of your favorite breakfast items and some, with a twist. Some options include: skillets, crepes, frittatas, and your usual classic breakfast meals. Eggheadz also offers some specialties that are sure to make your mouth water. One of those specialties is called the Chunky Monkey. The Chunky Monkey two slices of challah bread stuffed with peanut butter, fresh bananas, chocolate chips, and is topped with whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup. Other specialty items include: red velvet french toast, Oreo pancakes, and breakfast quesadilla. Every time I come here, I always get the bacon pancakes. They are loaded with bacon inside the batter and then they add even more bacon to top it off. If you love bacon as much as I do, I highly recommend trying this out. Huck Finn – As a child, I always remember coming here (the Oak Lawn location) and to this day, I still love it. The menu at Huck Finn is full of wholesome and tasty dishes that will satisfy anyone’s appetite. A lot of menu consists of items that include eggs in different variations, pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy, etc. I usually just get the full order of the french toast with a side of bacon. I would not recommend getting the short order because it is literally just one piece of toast cut in half; if you are not that hungry than go for it. The overall atmosphere is nice and the staff is friendly; they are always making sure that you have everything you need.

Skillet House – The Skillet House has two different locations, one in Oak Lawn and the other is in Tinley Park. If you want better service, go to the one in Oak Lawn; if do not want to be in a cramped space, go to the one in Tinley Park. Moving on, the Skillet House serves exactly what you think it does, skillets. Now they do not serve just skillets, they have other typical breakfast items on the menu as well, but it is limited. I do not eat eggs so sometimes it is hard to find things on a menu they do not involve them. Luckily, they do offer french toast which tastes great. Usually, I will order bacon or hash browns on the side. Everything here is reasonably priced and is a good place to go to with family or friends.

Whitney’s Café – If you are looking for a nice place to have breakfast or brunch, this is a great place to come. Whitney’s Café is located inside the Hilton Hotel in Oak Lawn. I have come here numerous times for Sunday brunch and have never been disappointed. For $25 a person (if you choose to do brunch), you can have access to a full breakfast bar that includes: eggs, omelets, salmon, ham, a waffle station, french toast, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, oatmeal, fruit, cereal, yogurt, pastries, and an assortment of beverages. The service and the atmosphere is also great. Overall, this is a nice place to come to with family or friends for a special occasion or just because. Niko’s Breakfast Club – The last restaurant is Niko’s Breakfast Club which is also located in Oak Lawn. This restaurant also serves an assortment of your favorite breakfast foods. Some of these include different types of pancakes, waffles, crepes, and lots of different ways that you can eat your favorite type of egg. When I come here, I will typically get the classic french toast or the crisp bacon waffle which are both satisfying. Prices here are reasonable and there is surely something on the menu that will peak your interest. As you can tell, I really love my breakfast (and I also might have a slight bacon obsession). All of these places that I have mentioned are great to go to and enjoy some great food. Which breakfast spot would you like to visit?
