My Favorite Albums of 2021, so far…

SOUR- Olivia Rodrigo

I never knew an 18 year old pop sensation could suck me in like Olivia Rodrigo did. She’s been described as a mini Taylor Swift, and I totally agree. I honestly think Rodrigo is a 30 year old trapped in a teenager’s body. She is ahead of her time, she really gave her entire heart and soul to SOUR.  It leaves an effect on you, I really wish I had this album when I was a teenager. My favorite song on SOUR is “traitor.”

KG0516- Karol G

True love, heartache, and boss girl vibes all in one. I went on a roller coaster ride of emotions exploring the creative world of Karol G. Each song has a different beat, collaboration, and meaning. She definitely knew how to keep it exciting for listeners. My favorite song on KG0516 is “Gato Malo” ft. Nathy Peluso.

Dopamina- Manuel Turizo

There is something about Manuel Turizo’s voice that captivates me. If you listen to Reggeaton, you will recognize Turizo’s voice from a mile away. He turns heartache into an enjoyable feeling for a couple minutes in his music. Dopamina is an upbeat and chilled out album.  My personal favorite is “Amor En Coma” ft. Maluma.

Future Nostalgia (The Moonlight Edition)- Dua Lipa

Disco Pop queen Dua Lipa has re-released Future Nostalgia three different times, and does not disappoint. The Moonlight Edition is my personal favorite out of all three. Lipa added 8 more songs to it and it is so groovy. My personal favorite is “Un Dia” ft. Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Tainy.

Maluma- #7DJ (7 Dias En Jamaica)

I felt like I was on vacation miles and miles away when I listened to this 7 track album. It’s short, contains a tropical flare, and is perfect for any night out. Maluma took a drastic turn from his comfort zone in #7DJ. You get pure reggae vibes here, and I am here for it. My favorite song is “Agua de Jamaica.”

42- Sech

I love Sech. He is universally loved in the reggaeton industry. Any song he is a part of automatically becomes a hit. I’ve previously only listened to him on collaborations, but I couldn’t stop listening to 42 when it was released.  I literally played “¿Que Somos?” on repeat for a whole day once, it’s that good. If you wanna get moving, play Sech.

bb u ok?- San Holo

If you’re trying to disconnect from this crazy world, blast bb u ok? I immersed myself in this album, it’s soothing, healing, and enlightening.  When I think of this album I automatically envision fluorescent colors and lights. My personal favorite is “heal.”

Primer Dia De Clases- Mora

Mora is skyrocketing in the world of reggaeton. He collaborated with the biggest artists in the reggaeton industry on this album, and it drew me in. This is only his first album and I am so excited to see what he has in store for the future. It’s playful, catchy, and gets you moving. My personal favorite is “Primer Dia De Clases.”

Journey To The Center of Myself, Vol. 1- Elohim

Trippy, catchy, and uplifting. This 5 track album took me on a journey. Elohim kept it short and simple, and still managed to get her point across. It’s fun and reminds me to not take life too seriously. I’m really liking the song “Nice.”

What Did I Do- Peyton

This 3 track album immediately hooked me. Peyton’s voice is incredibly magical and is a true masterpiece. Her lyrics, voice and beats really compliment each other. I feel so vibed out when I listen to her. I am loving “Let it Flow” ft. Brice Blanco.
