Mouth-Watering Breakfast Places in the Suburbs that are a Must-Try

The most important meal of the day just got even more irresistible. If you are looking for the next best way to spend your morning, you have come to the right spot. Here are three breakfast restaurants in the suburbs that will leave your stomach and heart content.

The Southern Cafe – Crest Hill, IL

Starting off our list, The Southern Cafe located in Crest Hill provides customers with hearty meals like no other. They take pride in making delectable dishes using fresh ingredients to maximize the dining experience.

Pictured above is the Big South, which includes a Belgium waffle with honey butter and maple syrup alongside two pieces of fried chicken, two strips of bacon, two sausage links, and two eggs with hashbrowns. I substituted the sausage for extra bacon and got hash browns with no eggs. As well as this, I ordered a Raspberry Cheesecake Latte from their special coffee menu. The honey butter used on the waffles was a big favorite for me. As far as the coffee went, the menu had a lot of unique flavors you typically would not see at a coffee shop, but the flavor of the latte I got was really sweet and lacked the caffeine taste. Next time, I would stick to a more normal flavor.

The menu is full of other options sure to make your mouth water. They offer several different omelets, skillets, pancakes, waffles, and french toast flavor options. One of their signatures includes The Sugga Momma – fried chicken breast with a spicy honey sauce and scrambled eggs sandwiched between two waffles and served alongside hash browns. They also offer some lunch options. For the full menu, click here.

The Southern Cafe can be found at 1819 Knapp Street in Crest Hill. They are open from 6:30 AM to 3 PM every day.

Buttermilk – Naperville

Next up on the list is Buttermilk, a restaurant and coffee bar aiming to elevate what is considered the traditional breakfast experience. Upon visiting, elevate is exactly what they did.

Pictured above, I had the opportunity to try the Blackberry Brie French Toast that came with the cheese, a blackberry drizzle, fresh fruit, and powdered sugar on top. On the side, I ordered a honey biscuit. I have heard from other people that their biscuits are incredible, and this was not an exaggeration. Anyone who visits should add a biscuit to the side of their order. For the drink, I ordered a Cookie Butter Latte. Everything was excellent; this was a place I would definitely become a regular at. Next time, I would probably try a different dish, however, only because I thought the brie taste was a bit overpowering, but it was still enjoyable.

The rest of the menu has skillet, egg, pancake, omelet, french toast, crepe, and waffle options with numerous flavors for each. They also offer different biscuit sandwiches and benedicts, also known as Bennys. Their menu also has grains, sides, specialties, lunch, and seasonal favorites.

One of the winter specials they had was the Bourbon Cherry French Toast. To find these, you can visit their Instagram @buttermilkrestaurants or look at their other social media. For a full menu, click here. To see their coffee bar menu, click here

The Naperville location can be found at 1715 Freedom Drive. They are open from 7 AM to 2:30 PM every day.

Huck Finn – Oak Lawn

Last but not least, what would a breakfast article be without including the famous Huck Finn, a Saint Xavier student and community favorite. They are known for their hearty breakfasts as well as donuts that are served all day long.

Pictured above is the Cinnamon Roll French Toast with a side of hashbrowns. They also have hot cups of coffee with unlimited refills and the standard creamers and sugar packets available at each table. This had to be one of my favorite dishes I have gotten from Huck Finn. It is most certainly my favorite breakfast I have tried from there. It is always a great experience with outstanding service, no matter what time of day you go.

The menu also boasts a variety of skillets, griddles, pancakes, waffles, omelets, eggs, as well as lunch and dinner options. One thing they are known for would be the Becky Thatcher Breakfast, which consists of two eggs, two stips of bacon, two sausage links, and two pancakes with butter and syrup. They also always have donuts and other desserts at the front of the restaurant.

Huck Finn is located at 10501 Cicero Avenue. They are open every hour of every day.
